Comments/Explanations

Apprentice T Buck submitted a medical certificate passing him fit to ride tonight.

Trainer M Guthrie was fined the sum of $50 under LR 13.3 for the late notification of rider in Race 1 tonight.

Following the running of Race 6 Daniel Ganderton was examined by the on course ambulance officers after he advised Stewards that he was feeling unwell and was subsequently stood down from his remaining engagements. Daniel Ganderton was advised that he must submit a medical certificate prior to riding in trackwork, trials and races.

RACE 1 – TASBONUS 3YO & UPWARDS MAIDEN PLATE–1200 METRES

The Stockman was slow to begin (1L).

Shortly after the start Rumbling shifted in and made contact with Western Front.

Fair Player shifted in abruptly shortly after the start.

In the early stages Fair Player got its head up when over racing.

Approaching the 1000 metres Liberty Heights was inconvenienced when It’s Flash Al shifted in. Shortly after Glendevie shifted out away from Shah Deimos and bumped Liberty Heights.

Near the 900 metres Crazy Coen became unbalanced and lost some ground. Crazy Coen then raced wide for the remainder of the event.

Approaching the 800 metres Shah Deimos became unbalanced and lost ground when tightened for room between The Stockman which shifted out and Rumbling which shifted in slightly.

Shane Arnold rider of Liberty Heights pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137(a) careless riding the particulars being that from the 150 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Fair Player resulting in that gelding being initially tightened and then having to be checked on two occasions when Liberty Heights continued to shift in. Stewards deemed the interference and carelessness to be of a low to medium level. Shane Arnold’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 1 Tasmanian race meeting to commence at midnight Sunday 30 March 2014 and to expire at midnight 2 April 2014.

Near the 50 metres Rich Mantle had difficulty in obtaining a clear run before shifting to the outside of Western Front.

Over the concluding stages, Glendevie layed in when under pressure.

Subsequent to the meeting Simon Snell representing Jodi Snell trainer of Rumbling reported that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Mr Snell further added that the gelding had been scoped which confirmed the bleed and it was now connections intention to retire Rumbling. Mr Snell was advised of the conditions of AR 53A(4).

RACE 2 – MIDLANDS TRACTORS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1200 METRES

Acting on a report from the Starter that Pinks A Legend proved difficult to load and delayed the start by approximately 3 minutes, connections were advised that the mare must complete a satisfactory trial before racing again.

Pinks A Legend jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start Yasir was hampered when taken out by Acacia Bloom which was taken out by Espry which jumped outwards.

RACE 3 – CRESSY CHAFF CUTTERS CLASS 1 HANDICAP- 1400 METRES

Maglia Rosa jumped away awkwardly.

Blue Tier raced wide throughout.

During the middle stages Up Cups over-raced.

Tyson Buck rider of Up Cups accidentally dropped his whip near the 150 metres.

Millie Whitehouse-Summers rider of Ciao Marco was reprimanded under AR 137A(4)(c) in that she used the whip when her mount out of contention.

BulentMuhcu rider of Fuming was reminded of his obligations to not use a whip action which raises his arm above shoulder height.

Brendon McCoull rider of Blue Tier which performed below expectations explained that it was his intention to ride the gelding forward however the wide draw did not assist in fulfilling that tactic. Brendon McCoull further added that Blue Tier failed to respond to his riding from the 800 metres and in his opinion felt amiss in its action which resulted in him easing it down in the home straight. On return to the mounting yard he reported that the gelding was blowing excessively. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have pulled up with a short action in front and an elevated heart and respiratory rate. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate must be submitted prior to Blue Tier racing again. A swab sample was taken from Blue Tier.

RACE 4 – TASBONUS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 METRES

Acting on a report from the starter that Gee Gees Supreme proved difficult to load, connections were advised that a warning has been placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.

Don’t Tell Kayla jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with Gee Gees Supreme which jumped inwards.

Savrajette was slow into stride.

Gee Gees Supreme layed in from the 600 metres until the finish.

In the home straight on two occasions Don’t Tell Kayla shifted in abruptly when struck with the whip.

Approaching the winning post,Savrajettelayed out towards the heels of Don’t Tell Kayla.

Crib Point raced greenly over the concluding stages.

RACE 5 – NEWSTEAD HOTEL BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP - 1600 METRES

Royal Miswaki jumped away awkwardly.

RACE 6 – BLENHEIM INN CLASS 4 HANDICAP- 1200 METRES

Daniel Ganderton rider of Copper Dancer was reprimanded under AR 137A(4)(a) in that he used his whip forward of his mount’s shoulder on two occasions in the home straight.

RACE 7 – SUE REES MODELLING AND DEPORTMENT ACADEMY BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP – 2100 METRES

The start of this race was delayed due to ambulance officers examining Jockey Daniel Ganderton.

Ismail Toker rider of Spotluck was severely reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding for permitting his mount to shift in passing the winning post of the first occasion when insufficiently clear of Another Lad Al resulting in that gelding having to be restrained.

Ismail Toker rider of Spotluck which performed below expectations explained that in his view the mare did not appreciate the firmer track conditions tonight and he could offer no further explanation forits performance.

RACE 8 – COUNTRY CLUB HOTEL MAIDEN/CLASS 1 PLATE – 1600 METRES

Long Lashes jumped away awkwardly.

Keep Racing (2L) and Sonetto (1L) were both slow to begin.

During the early stages Long Lashes raced greenly and proved difficult to ride.

Passing the 200 metres Grandarci was disappointed for a run between Long Lashes and Diocese.

Stewards interviewed Rasit Yetimova rider of Long Lashes, Millie Whitehouse-Summers rider of Sonetto, Chantal Willis rider of Windedo and Rhonda Mangan rider of Grandarci into the reasons for Sonetto and Grandarci being checked near the 400 metres. As Rasit Yetimova rider of Long Lashes required further representation by his master, Stewards adjourned this inquiry to a date to be fixed.

Shane Arnold rider of Cool Partner explained that he was instructed to ride the gelding back and with cover and for that reason he elected to restrain the gelding shortly after the start as it had drawn a wide barrier. He further added that the gelding initially came back under him but shortly after commenced to over-race which did not assist him to fulfil the instructions given by connections. Cool Partner raced wide throughout.

David Pires rider of Diocese explained the gelding raced further forward tonight due to it dwelling slightly at the start and when ridden forward it commenced to over race and would not settle which resulted in him allowing it race towards the lead.
