Standard 7.6.3 – Understand the development of feudalism, its role in the medieval European

economy, the way in which it was influenced by physical geography (the role of themanor and the growth of towns), and how feudal relationships provided the foundation of political order.

Objective – Explain how feudalism developed in Western Europe.

Review the concept “hierarchy” and relate it to feudalism in Western Europe.

Introduce the concept “chivalry” and relate it to the role of knights in medieval times(2.6-2.7)

  • Compare and contrast the roles of knights and peasants in medieval Europe
  • Highlight today’s vocabulary terms from our Word Wall

Begin notetaking in Chapter 2, pages 26-29

  • Use Notetaking Guidelines to set-up a page for notetaking in one’s Interactive Notebook

  • Write main idea for every paragraph as bulleted point beneath each heading
