STANDING ORDERS

Abbreviations

FAC Fishburn Aero Club.

FAL Fishburn Airfield Ltd, the airfield operators.

ATC Air Traffic Control.

CAA Civil Aviation Authority

Airside Runways taxiways and all areas where aircraft may manoeuvre.

SUMMARY

The purpose of Airfield Standing orders is to ensure that all users of “Fishburn Airfield” can enjoy their sport in a safe and friendly environment.

To ensure this is achieved any infringements of any airfield “Standing Orders” may result in a period of suspension. More serious offences can result in a total ban being enforced.

All club members, based and visiting pilots, will be made aware of, and sign the register to indicate they have read and understood the aerodrome’s “Standing Orders”.

Any improvements to these standing orders and/or safety procedures should be made through the FAC’s “Safety Officer” on behalf of FAL or to FAL directly.

FAL accept no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury howsoever caused.

FAL will enforce these standing orders either directly or through their nominated representative.

GENERAL

Members of FAC, Pilots, and guests must conduct themselves in a congenial and proper manner at all times, showing respect for fellow airfield users.

No vehicle allowed airside unless for grass cutting, emergency, or the airfield owners business.

All vehicles delivering materials to use the tracks provided, immediately to the north of the communal hangars, and not the taxiways.

All vehicles will be parked in the main car park. Hangar owners and tenants may park adjacent to the communal hangars, but should not obstruct the access track or any taxiway.

All visitors must be accompanied by a FAC member or have the express permission. from FAL.

All children must be strictly supervised at all times.

No smoking allowed airside or in any hangar.

Refuelling other than at the bowser must be carried out over a concrete base and not in the communal hangars or on the grass.

Chocks and tie downs must not be left on/in grassed areas unless marked by a cone.

All aircraft must have third party insurance of at least £0.5 million before operating from “Fishburn Airfield”.

All “Fishburn Airfield” users shall make themselves familiar with the position of any aerodrome fire extinguishers and safety equipment, and the use thereof. Maintenance of these and for the communal hangar extinguishers is the responsibility of FAL. Tenants are responsible for the positioning and maintenance of safety equipment in the private hangars.

The clubhouse should always be left locked with the radio and gas fire turned off when the last FAC member leaves the field.

No animals allowed airside, except for guide dogs, and only when accompanied by a sighted person.

Only persons licensed in accordance with CAP 452 and endorsed by the radio station license holder may operate the radio, and they will do so in a proper manner and in line with correct “terminology” and procedures.

OPERATIONAL

Fishburn is an unlicensed airfield and as such it is every pilot’s responsibility to take actions based on what is happening around them. Information over the radio is given on this “advisory” basis and is in no way any form of ATC.

All pilots using the airfield must have a current medical and appropriate flying licence also the legal currency requirements as defined by the CAA.

All aircraft flying to and from Fishburn Airfield must have a current C of A, or appropriate PFA, BMAA etc, authorisation for legal flight within UK airspace.

Every pilot to be responsible for the safe parking/securing of their aircraft and to ensure no damage is caused by prop wash. Parked aircraft must not be so positioned to cause any obstruction to other users or airfield operations.

No aircraft to be left running without the pilot being seated in the aircraft except for prop swinging, when the aircraft will be safely secured.

No aircraft will be started in a manner which may be considered dangerous to anyone, or in any place where prop wash would enter the hangars.

Pilots will not fly over local villages.

No aerobatics in the immediate vicinity of the airfield without the express consent of FAL.

No low level beat-ups of the field will be permitted.

The following airfield operating times must be adhered to:

Mon-Sat 08:00

Sun 09:30

Last take off 20:00, Last landing 20:30

In the event of an emergency, when landing outside of these hours is necessary, then a power off approach should be made in order to minimise any nuisance level. Explanation must be given to FAL, if requested, as soon as possible.

Pilots must be aware of sensitive flying areas as notified by FAL

Pilots will make their first radio call on 118.275 (airfield frequency) before taxing from the Northern “T” hangars and will exercise particular caution when taxying to and from the manoeuvring area. Priority should be given to aircraft exiting the manoeuvring area and returning to its hangar.

Only one aircraft at a time allowed on the runway unless by prior arrangement and at the pilots own liability.

All pilots must fill in, as far as practicable, the airfield log before take-off.

Pilots unable to return to the field for weather or mechanical reasons must notify FAL as soon as possible.

Areas for rigging aircraft will be as directed by FAL

Circuits are to the north of the field.

08 left hand at 800ft

26 right hand at 800ft

Please note there is no “dead side” at Fishburn Airfield.

On takeoff aircraft will climb out on the runway heading and only turn so as not to overfly villages or cause any noise nuisance.

HANGARS

General (Cummunal and T)

All aircraft will be chocked with brakes off

Aircraft must not be started within the communal hangars

Oil spillages to be dealt with immediately and any absorbent medium removed.

Storage of spares, oil etc will be confined to steel lockers. No large amounts of combustible materials to be stored

No smoking in hangars

Fire extinguishers provided by FAL must be left in place.

Only non-electric heating to be used inside any hangar and then, (in the case of the private hangars), only those approved by the insurance companies. All owners must have 3rd party insurance.

Aircraft owners are responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of the hangars. Sump oil must be disposed of off site.

Communal

It is FAL responsibility to ensure that the hangar structure is maintained in a dry, safe condition.

Aircraft will only be moved to gain access to other aircraft, and then replaced, or in an emergency. Due care and attention must be applied and any damage to aircraft must be immediately reported to its operator so that it cannot be flown without knowledge of the damage.

No fixings are allowed to the hangar sheets

Birds and rodents to be controlled by FAL

Hangar doors will be kept locked when aircraft owners are not in attendance with all the aircraft inside.

Any break-in or damage must be reported to FAL and /or the Police.

Pilot’s cars may be parked in the hangar overnight provided they do not obstruct aircraft

Only one locker per aircraft is allowed and must be positioned so as not to hinder aircraft when they are parked. Remember aircraft have priority over lockers.
