Competition Chili—Rules
Ya'll read this real careful now.
1.Teams must file anEntry Formwith the Director’s Staff Chili Cook-Off Coordinator to reserve a spot. Registration will close October 22, 2016.
2.Chili teams must arrive at the chili cook off location in time tostart their Competition Chilipreparation by10 AM. The Temple will be open at 9 for setup.
3.Each team will be assigned a 10' x 10' preparation area. If ya need more room, well....that'll cost ya.
4.Teams must supply all chili ingredients, equipment and fuel.Electricity and water will be available on site.
5.All preparation for the Competition Chili must be done on site and from scratch. Scratch means starting with raw meat, vegetablesand regular spices. Canned tomatoes and sauceare allowed. Meat and vegetables may be chopped beforehand.
6.No team will start preparation or cooking before the official signal to start.
7.Chili must be prepared out in the open for all to see and as sanitary as possible. (wash your hands!!!)
8.Hand in time for Competition Chili will beat 1 pm. There will be a 30 minute warning for turn in. Don't be late!!!
9.All Competition Chili teamsrecommendedprovide4 quarts ofChiliand must reserve1 pintfor submission to the judges. Teams are encouraged to allow tasting of the additional chili and the team who collects the most votes will be awarded the People’s Choice.
10.All registered teams are encouraged to ridicule and otherwise harass other teams in an attempt to make them cry.
11.True chili is defined as any kind of meat or combination of meats cooked with chili peppers, various other spices and other ingredients with the exceptions of items such as beans or spaghetti, which are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN.
12.The entry fee will be $50.00 per chili entered. Contestants may enter more than 1 batch of chili. There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cash prize.
13. Each contestant is responsible for policing and cleaning up the area at the end of the day and removing all items from the area. No items shall be allowed to remain after the close of the Cook-off.
14.Tarps required are to keep grease off of parking lot.
Jackpot Beans—Rules
1.Only Pinto beans to be used.
2.Beans and gravy only in turn-in (No meat or other ingredients larger than the bean in turn-in)
3.Must provide 1 pint of beans for judging.
