PART 3: EXPECTATIONS
Summer Preview consists of4 two-day orientation sessions for incoming students and their families. Summer Preview provides new students the opportunity to become better acquainted with the many resources and programs Creighton has to offer. Summer Preview Guide expectations include:
•Attend the Summer Preview Sessions: July 11-12, July 14-15, July18-19 , July 21-22
•Attend the Summer Preview Training Sessions: March 14, March 21, March 28, April 4, April 18 and July 10
•Attend a 2nd interview on either February 24th or February 26th
•Move in early in the fall to help with new student move-in August 19th and 20th
Part 4: ESSAY QUESTIONS
PLEASE READ: With the questions below we are trying to gain some insight into who you are, why you want to be a part of Summer Preview and what you will bring to the team. We are not concerned with proper grammar, spelling and sentence structure, just be yourself and highlight the things that make you an awesome person and an ideal Summer Preview guide.
- Who are you, and why should you be selected as a SP guide?
- You are opening a new Jesuit University, what do you make sure you include in your orientation program?
- Please write a short statement (one paragraph is fine) of your understanding of diversity and explain why diversity is important in New Student Orientation and Creighton University.
- Diversity is important to us—What sets you apart from the rest? What are you bringing to the table? Are you a transfer student that will one day be student government president? Are you a COBA student who wants to make their mark in not-for-profit work? Are you commuter student who loves to find parking every morning?

New Student Orientation Mission
The mission of new student orientation at CreightonUniversity is to provide for continuing services and assistance that will:
- Aid new students in their transition to Creighton;
- Expose new students to the array of academic and social opportunities of Creighton;
- Integrate new students into the life of Creighton; and
- Provide information to the families of our new students.
This area will facilitate the campus community in providing programs and services designed to assist and support new students and their families in their transition to Creighton. Orientation programs will include academic and social components and will address challenging issues that affect student success. These programs will also address the needs of diverse populations including transfer, minority, international and commuter students. This area is committed to providing leadership opportunities for a strong student orientation volunteer staff.
