Applying for a Job Project

Objective: Students will work in teams (no more than TWO people) to create a packet of information explaining how to apply for a job. This packet may then be distributed to classmates, teachers, etc.

Instructions: Team members will determine the contents of the packet.

Information: Packets must include the following:

·  Title Page with your names and a title

·  Where do I go to find about jobs?

o  Traditional

o  Non-Traditional

o  Include at least 5 examples and instructions to use.

·  What is a resume

·  How to produce a resume

·  Sample resume

·  How to write a cover letter and what is its purpose

·  Sample cover letter

·  How to complete an employment application

·  Sample employment application

·  Sample interview questions (at least 10)

·  How to dress appropriately for an interview

·  Sample pictures of both appropriate and inappropriate dress

·  What is body language? In an Interview? Why is this important?

·  How to write a follow up letter

·  Sample follow up letter

·  If you choose not to accept a job, what should you do?

·  Any additional information you feel is relevant (qualities employers look for when hiring, etc.)

Be creative! Make the book look nice and full of information. Remember this is an how to book, so you must go step by step and explain the importance of every piece.

Employment Process Packet Evaluation

1.  Each team member will be evaluated by the instructor using the following instrument. (This will be recorded as a daily grade. More than one grade may be given.)
