General Statement of Job

Provides technical and administrative leadership to the College for policy and practices in the financial aid process including the development of financial aid short and long-range goals. Plans, organizes and supervises the Financial Aid department to administer federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds and services. Ensures the staff follows federal and state regulations, meet all deadlines, work with state and federal auditors. Work with staff to ensure programs are in compliance with all federal and state regulations, and school policy.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides technical and administrative leadership in the financial aid process.
  2. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and practices in the financial aid process.
  3. Oversees financial aid for multi-campuses.
  4. Directs, plans, evaluates, and supervises all activities and operations of the financial aid program.
  5. Plans and directs development of training programs.
  6. Ensures compliance with laws, regulations and polices impacting financial aid.
  7. Coordinates assigned activities with off-campus sites, and works with internal agencies as needed.
  8. Provides strong leadership and highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Vice President for Student Services and Development.
  9. Trains, supervises, and evaluates job performance of financial aid staff.
  10. Supervises financial aid staff.
  11. Completes federal, state, and institutional reports such as the FISAP.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

1.Master's degree Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field, preferred required.

2.Management experience in a higher educational financial aid program preferred.

1.3.Four At least seven (7) years of professional experience in higher education financial aid program management or administration, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  2. Strong organizational and management skills.
  3. Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, college and local policies, procedures, laws, codes, and regulations for financial aid.
  4. Experience with financial aid audits.

4.Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.Strong oral and written communication skills.

  4. Experience with Department of Education's policies and regulations for federal financial aid programs.
  5. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  6. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  7. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  8. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  9. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  10. AAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  1. All applicants are subject to a national criminal background check under South Texas College policy.
  2. Security Sensitive position: In addition, subject to federal background check.

Physical Requirements

1.Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
