Design a Product Project

  1. Come up with an idea for a new invention or an improvement to a current invention.
  2. Decide what materials will be used on your product.
  3. Research how much it will cost to make your product. (Please list source of the prices)
  4. Decide how much to charge for the product.
  5. Decide what demographic (age, neighborhoods, location, etc…) to market your product to.
  6. Create a poster to advertise your product. (Legal-Sized Construction Paper or Mini Poster Board Recommended) Graphics may be hand-drawn or a combination of computer images.
  7. Present your product to the class.
  8. Write a 1-page reflection about how you designed your product and why you designed this product OR Create graphs for your data collected from the survey. (Histogram, Bar Graph, Pie Chart, Scatter Plot, Stem and Leaf Plot etc…) I will be holding a tutoring session on graphing for those interested in learning how to do computerized graphs.
  9. Extra Credit (5% for each item):
  10. Create and distribute a survey to at least 30 different people. (To be given out after your presentation) (If you need Ms. Gliot to make copies, you will need to get pre-approval)

Survey Writing Tips:

  1. Be as specific as possible.
  2. When offering choices, always offer an “other” or “none of the above” choice
  3. Qualitative Questions offer pre-Selected choices or choices that are not numerical
  4. Quantitative Questions do not offer pre-selected choices and the answer should be a numerical value.
