Department of Toxicology and Pharmacology

Welcome

Welcome to the Department of Toxicology and Pharmacology in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS). Pharmacology and Toxicology are integrative and interdisciplinary sciences that investigate the actions of all chemicals or non-chemical agents, including drugs, on living systems and help develop new drugs and indications for human diseases. Any endogenous molecules such as hormones or neurotransmitters, materials in the environment, as well as synthetic or naturally derived compounds are subject to testfor pharmacological and toxicological effects. Specialists in the field of pharmacology and toxicology have an exceptionally broad perspective and background to investigate virtually on every organ system from the molecular and cellular to tissue, organ, and whole animal levels especially in the specific disease models. We welcome young talented students to join us and study in various aspects of the science of Toxicology and Pharmacology.
