Dear #Givingtuesday Champions

Dear #Givingtuesday Champions

Dear #GivingTuesday Champions,

Thank you so much for volunteering to be a #GivingTuesday Champion for NPCA. NPCA is there for you during every step of your Peace Corps journey, from pre-service, to working in the field, to being a global citizen when you return home. By helping us raise additional support for our advocacy work on #GivingTuesday, you’ll empower our organization to represent the interests of the Peace Corps community on Capitol Hill all year long.

If we want the Peace Corps to remain strong and vibrant, we need to scale up our advocacy work. This year’s proposed cut of $12 million to the Peace Corps budget demonstrated that a strong advocacy campaign to the White House and Congress is essential to protect the Peace Corps. We’re still fighting for level funding for the Peace Corps as the Senate and the House continue to negotiate on a budget for 2018. We need your help to make sure that the Peace Corps budget stays at $410 million.

NPCA is the only organization that represents our community's interests on Capitol Hill all year long. We need to increase our capacity to successfully advocate for a robust Peace Corps budget as well as the health and safety legislation that will improve volunteer service! With additional funding, NPCA will be able to hold a second advocacy day on the Hill, build our network of advocacy coordinators across the country, and offer better tools to help our community reach out to their Members of Congress.

So, thank you for all of your support for this invaluable work!

A sample email for you to use for #GivingTuesday outreach:

Dear NAME,

This year, I’ve volunteered to be a #GivingTuesday Champion for National Peace Corps Association (NPCA). NPCA is a private, nonprofit, social impact organization comprised of, and driven by, the more than 250,000 individuals that share the Peace Corps experience. I served in the Peace Corps in COUNTRY/OFFICE YEARS OF SERVICE. SENTENCE ABOUT HOW MUCH YOUR PEACE CORPS SERVICE MEANT TO YOU.

NPCA serves as the catalyst to enable and empower members of the Peace Corps community to advocate for the future of the Peace Corps, promote greater cross-cultural understanding and acceptance, and mobilize support for sustainable humanitarian development projects around the world.

I’ve pledged to get 10 people to donate at least $10 to NPCA’s Advocacy Fund for #GivingTuesday. Every day, NPCA fights for a bigger and better Peace Corps. They want to ensure that future generations have the opportunity to volunteer, and that volunteers return from their service safe and healthy. In order to do that, NPCA needs additional funds to put together toolkits, webinars, and advocacy action days that will show Congress that Americans believe that the Peace Corps is one of the most important investments we can make in our national security and the future of our nation.

Please help me honor my pledge today by donating $10 or more to NPCA’s Advocacy Fund.

Thank you for supporting me, and my efforts to promote a more peaceful and prosperous world.

All my best,
