Dear Congregants and Friends:
As the temperature here decreases we begin to embrace warm thoughts of summer 2017 on LBI, eagerly anticipating another wonderful season to bask in the glow of friendship and shared experiences at the JCC. Already in the planning stages are three main events that will enhance our “Summer Place.”
· “Five ‘N Thrivin” is going to be a happy, happening evening, on Sunday, June 25th, in celebration of our new building’s fifth anniversary. The evening will honor our Founders: Selma and Herbert Shapiro, and our Builders: Edward Dreyfus, Jeffrey Shapiro and Sherry Fruchterman. There will be hors d’oeuvres, dining and dancing, marking the official start to our summer social and fund raising events.
The subsequent concert events are unique with special appeal to our congregants, friends, neighbors and visitors to LBI. Please save the dates:
· Sunday evening, July 30th at 7:00 p.m. “A Trio of Women Cantors: Contemporary~ Liturgical Show Music” a culturally diverse program of songs for the entire family featuring three highly acclaimed Hazzans.
· Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon (4:00 p.m.) August 26th and 27th. “Back to Broadway: Heroes, Villains and Dreamers,” starring Bart Shatto. Undoubtedly many of you associate Bart’s name with the Surflight Theatre since he starred in both “Les Miz” and “Jekyll and Hyde,” as well as appearing on the Broadway stage.
For each of these happenings we will be publishing and distributing a program book. Within these guides will be special pages to send good wishes to our honorees, the JCC and or the success of the event. Please consider adding your support by placing an ad in the program book. The funds raised by these ads will help continue our efforts to build a strong Jewish presence and sense of community on LBI and the Mainland. In addition to placing personal ads, we are reaching out to local businesses to place ads in all our program booklets. Please share the attached merchant letter with local business that you frequent. If you need more letters or contracts, call the office or, even better, make copies from those enclosed or from the JCC website.
