Job Description

Starting Salary: £26,767.02 plus option of 5% employer’s pension

Working Hours: 21 hours per week

Crew is a multi award-winning national charity, based in Edinburgh, at the forefront of tackling new and emerging trends in substance use, most recently ‘legal highs’ ornovelpsychoactive substances (NPS). Crew seeks to reduce harm from drug use and improve public health with the input of service users, working with a wide range of local, national and international partners.

ROLE PURPOSE

To provide low threshold access to substance use and sexual health services for young people by overseeing Drop-in shop operations and ensuring opportunities for peer education and peer support for volunteers.

MAIN Duties and Responsibilities

  • Continuing development of a needs-led Drop-in service
  • Measure the impact of the Drop-in service on service users by developing and implementing data collection and analysis methods and report on the findings
  • Work closely with Senior Management Team to seek new potential funding opportunities, provide feedback and write funding proposals for the Drop-in service
  • Ensure the Organisation adheres to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups guidelines and liaise with Acting CEO for additional support and guidance when necessary
  • Delivering training in consultation with Training Co-ordinator whilst ensuring needs of the Drop-in Service are met
  • Oversee the running of the Drop-in and line manage project worker
  • Liaising efficiently and positively with job share partner to ensure continuity of drop in service
  • Co-ordinate regular meetings regarding Drop-in programme and volunteers
  • Co-ordinate and develop volunteer recruitment and selection
  • Development, co-ordination, design, delivery and evaluation of training for volunteers
  • Co-ordinate and develop provision of support and supervision for volunteers
  • Supervise activities in the drug information shop
  • Provide C:Card services and co-ordinate Crew’s C:card provision
  • Responsibility for cleanliness of shop and environment
  • Maintain contact and liaise with the crew staff team as appropriate
  • Attend regular support and supervision meetings with Service Delivery Manager
  • Provide cover to people working one to one in line with the lone working policy on an occasional basis

Previous Experience
Working to improve the health and wellbeing of young people
Providing one to one support to young people e.g. brief intervention work
Co-ordinating, designing, delivering and evaluating training
Working experience of peer support initiatives
Managing and supervising volunteers and staff
Working with drugs and/orsexual health issues
Producing clear, accurate reports on service activity and quality to agreed deadlines
Coordinating resources, staff and volunteers to achieve agreed targets within agreed deadlines / Experience of working in a drop in environment
Delivering drug, alcohol and sexual health training
Recruiting volunteers
Contributing to funding applications
Knowledge of the Protection for Vulnerable Groups Guidelines
