CREATE YOUR VERY OWN NEWSPAPER

You will be making a newspaper about your Middle School Communications class. Grades will be based on neatness, conventions, and content of articles.

Your paperMUST have the following items:

  1. Front/Middle/Back Pages
  2. Table of Contents
  3. Feature Story (2)
  4. TWO Advertisements
  5. Picture Story
  6. Biography –Fiction or Non-fiction Narrative
  7. *Something that represents each lesson/projects MS Communications class.
  8. Options – must have at least three in your newspaper.

ALL NEWSPAPERS MUST FOLLOW THE FINAL DRAFT FORMAT

  • Ink - Neat presentation-Spelling/punctuation

EXPLANATION OF ITEMS

Layout:front /middle/ back of newspaper - use color - draw pictures - date (make up the date if you want) - title

TABLE OF CONTENTS: Articles must have titles. The title must appear in the Table of Contents.

FEATURE ARTICLES: Your feature is an article, which gives information about something on your topic. You need to write two feature articles.

TWO ADVERTISEMENTS: Choose either an imaginary product or a real one. Write your own original words and “themes” for the product. The products should be appropriate to the theme of your magazine. There should be no more than 15 words in the ad.

PICTURE STORY: Draw a picture in your newspaper that you like and write a story (narrative) having to do with the picture. Your story should contain all of the elements of story. (Plot, conflict, characters, etc)

BIOGRAPHY: This article should be about someone important to the theme of your newspaper --- be creative.

OPTIONS: Options include,but are not limited to:

  1. Horoscopes
  2. Recipes
  3. Cartoon
  4. Terminology for your theme
  5. How to make or do things
  6. Games/Quizzes
