Day 3

8:00 AM Meet at Hotel ready for the field:

Field Exercise toGypsumCave and DesertCave Complex

Participants will have the opportunity to experience a day underground complete with all the cave conservation and ethics practices. They will use appropriate equipment and safety standards for visiting caves. The class will separate into groups and visit GypsumCave, DesertCave, and Wounded KneeCave. The field trip will focus on implementing the information learned the previous day to conduce a variety of inventories and evaluations in a field setting. Specific exercises will be Cave Significance Evaluations, Resource assessments and evaluations including Biology, Hydrology, Mineralogy, Cultural, &Cave gating designs. Search and rescue needs and resource restoration needs will be assessed.

Equipment will be provided by the BLM. Box lunches will be provided.

Return to Las Vegas expected around 6:00 pm.

Day 4

8:00Discussion about the field exercise. Share experiences and thoughts on new ideas about cave management as a result of the field exercise.

This will be a good opportunity for participants to network with potential partners.
