Levels, course entry requirements and remarks

FC is the First Cycle (bachelor, under-graduate) and SC is the Second Cycle (master, graduate). In short FC students are welcome to study FC courses and SC students are welcome to study FC and SC courses. Note the necessary special eligibility requirements for the course(s) you are interested in.

First Cycle students are recommended to study four of the following five courses during the Autumn Semester: KG1206 Geographical Information Systems and Cartography, 7.5 HECs, KG1208 Swedish Geography, 7.5 HECs, KG2203 Geographical Information Analysis I, 7.5 HECs, and KG1209 Essay on Swedish Geography, 7.5 HECs, or KG2204 Geographical Information Analysis II, 7.5 HECs. Note: (1)Students have to pass KG1206 to start KG2203 and KG2203 to start KG2204, and KG1208 to start KG1209. (2)KG1209 is a flexible module, i.e. much of the tuition is individual and the study tempo can be 50% during period C–D, about 80% period C and 20% period D, or about 20% period C and 80% period D.

During the Spring Semester only two courses – KG3209 Challenges of Planning in the Global South – Focus Africa, 7.5 HECs, and KG3214 Applied Historical Geography, 7.5 HECs –are open for First Cycle students.FC students may find additional suitable courses in other Stockholm University depts.
