I had the same problem and the same dealer recommendation. The fittings are press fit. I got some metal/epoxy glue from the local auto parts store and it fixed the problem (14 months ago). Bill Buetow

Subject: hose blew off

Just had something happen. A good lesson relearned. Luckily nothing hurt. I was driving my '86 951 (52K miles) home down a 2 mile stretch of smooth pavementgood place to take the RPM's up, in 3rd, 4th, into 5th. Then slowing down for the turn, I noticed a new, sweet smell. That’s weird. Maybe a nearby

dumpster? At the stop, I noticed the heat gauge slowly moving upwards, to just under the 3/4 white mark. Uhoh. OK, kick in, aux fan. Then a guy in a truck said, "hey, you're leaking antifreeze". I coasted into the drive and opened the hood. At the rear of the engine, just under the last intake manifold tube and below a couple of cables, a small hose was off of a metal male receptor. I don't know exactly what is cooled by this particular fitting (antifreeze smoking on a hot manifold certainly clears your sinuses). Luckily no damage, except for

antifreeze on the inside firewall and components which will wash off. Bob K., Chipped '86 951

Subject: Re: Radiator and maybe hose leak????

The best $120 I spent on my Porsche was a complete set of hoses from A J USA. They took all day to install but it was well worth it. I had a leak in one hose, fixed that then another hose decided to leak At this point I decided to change them all. Anyway AJ USA can be reached at 18008771911. The price for your car is $72.95. Thanks for the great info but there is another alternative OG Racing sells them as a package. My Turbo S kit had 19 hoses packages for a bit over $100.

Try Zims... they had a "kit" put together for my '84, and am pretty sure they do the same thing for the other cars as well. Their prices are very reasonable as well, and their service was great.

Another source that I have had excellent service and pricing from is with Ian Riley at Europarts in Florida... and if he hasn't already put together hose kits for our cars, I would be willing to bet he could be talked into easily enough. He is also a frequent Rennlist sponsor.

I have no financial interest in refer anyone to these companies... I have just been happy with the service I received from them!

AJ-USA sent me a 12 page Christmas catalog. They offer a coolant hose kit for $137.95 that states "O.E.M. German hoses". I don't know how many hoses are included in the kit. I wonder what some dealer like Hendrik or Don McGill would package a hose kit for? I am thinking about hose and VW blue coolant change for a winter project. Can anyone post follow up messages here? Or if suppliers, dealers, etc want to contact me offline with price, I would be receptive.

I just did this, $109 from Zims, whole package (although that was for my '88, which should be similar). There is one weird H-shaped hose running off the reservoir to the Turbo pump that represents ~30% of the cost of the kit. Mine was fine, and looked to be a PITA to replace, so I left it in place. So I have a small hose that lists for $49.99 at Automotion just looking pretty on my shelf.
