Title: ESTELLA. LEARNING THROUGH PHONICS EXPRESS

Addressed to:Remontival teachers and any teacher in the Estella area interested in review the key points of the Learning Through Phonics course
Justification
After the Learning Through Phonics course that took place last year, teachers from Remontival asked for a review of the main contents in order to start working on the different linguistic plans at their school.
Aims
- To review key points of the different theories of learning to read.
- To review the different apporaches and activities related.
- To review the stages in the reading process and some suggested activities to improve their teaching skills.
Contents
- What are phonics. Their goal.
- Two theories of teaching reading skills: phonics and whole language learning.
- Approaches: synthetic phonics and analytic phonics.
- Sounds in the spoken world and practical ideas.
- Sounds in the written world and practical ideas.
Methodology
The sessions will combine some basic theory and practice. The methodology will be practical. .
Teacher
CARMEN LASTRA is a pre-primary school teacher at Catalina de Foix bilingual school in Zizur. Her current teaching involves teaching in English to 5 year-olds. She is very keen on phonics and she is determined to teach the sounds in the spoken and written world to the youngest kids as a basic stage for the reading process. She has trained teachers on how to work with phonics in Pre-Primary and Primary stages.
