Campaign Fundraising Officer

Reports to: Project Development Manager

Location: Edinburgh Printmakers, Bonnington Bond Office, Edinburgh

Contract: Full time, preliminary 1-yearcontract. Working typically Monday-Friday however the post-holder may, on occasion, need to work evenings and weekends. 3 Month probation period, 2 months notice.

Salary: £25,655 Pro rata

Introduction

Edinburgh Printmakers, established in 1967 as a specialist centre for fine art printmaking, is undertaking a Capital Development Project to redevelop the historic North British Rubber Company HQ building in Fountainbridge. This £11M building project will provide a 21st century arts centre and creative industries hub with unique facilities and opportunities for today’s creative community.

Currently Edinburgh Printmakers are a relatively small staff team of 14 that is undergoing a significant step change over the next 2 years. It is an opportunity to become a part of a small, very driven and dynamic team that is working to achieve a project that will help transform a much-loved heritage buildinginto a vibrant creativehub- nurturing talent, enriching lives and inspiring people to connect with their own creativity. With 90% of the funds secured, we have a final push to complete the final funding package by December 2018.

Main purpose

With large capital grants confirmed from Heritage Lottery fund and Creative Scotland, and trusts and foundation applications well underway, we are looking to diversify our voluntary giving income streams into Major Gifts, Events, Individual Giving, corporate and Community.

We are looking for a Campaign Fundraising Officer with experience of fundraising through trust and foundations, major giving fundraising campaigns, patron schemes and corporate giving to help close the remaining capital fundraising gap.

The post holder will help deliver the capital fundraising strategy to meet the challenges and targets set throughout the capital appeal campaign. You will work closely with the fundraising team, and the wider staff team to help close the remaining capital fundraising gap.

You will help to identify, initiate, develop and build relationships with high net worth individuals, trusts, foundations and corporate prospects, helping to manage the relationships to maximize income for the Edinburgh Printmakers Capital Appeal and beyond.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • With excellent copy writing skills you will write compelling proposals, introductory letters and follow-up letters that inspire donors, and prepare background information and materials for cultivation and solicitation activities as needed for high net worth individuals, trust and foundations and corporate partners.
  • To support on identifying, developing and building relationships with high net worth individuals, corporate prospects and Trust and Foundations to generate income, as well as using major donor fundraising techniques to support activity in other areas.
  • Gather required information, prepare and administrate progress reports as needed to satisfy terms of grant from trusts and foundations.
  • To develop capital outreach work and artistic programmefundraising opportunities with learning and access officer and programme team, developing fundable projects in line with trust and foundation guidelines and corporate giving opportunities.
  • To plan and help ensure that relationships with key supporters and patrons are nurtured and well managed to maximize their retention and future giving potential.
  • To feed into and support the shaping of cultivation events with the Development Officer, working with event planners to ensure they best represent our ability to showcase our work to prospective supporters and recognise appropriate existing major donors.
  • To support Project Development Manager with solicitation and engagement plans for Patrons, Trustees and Ambassadors in consultation with the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
  • To research new strategies for major support and help shape targeted funding campaigns.
  • To represent the Charity at external events.
  • Work with the Development Officer and Capital Communications Officer to develop targeted materials for donor audiences and stakeholders using creative and engaging methods of communication.
  • To collaborate with key stakeholders and senior staff to ensure that the Charity implements and delivers against agreed Data, Information Management KPI’s to ensure effective, consistent and legal communications with all supporters.
  • To ensure that information about donor contacts and Trusts activity is collected and stored accurately on the Charity’s database and that all retained information is in line with Charity Law and Best Practice.
  • To help ensure that donor trust and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • To support the proper management and reporting of fundraising activities to Senior management, the Board of Directors and stakeholders
  • To support the fundraising board, with Chairperson, CEO and Project Development Manager; prepping and reporting on fundraising progress, aiding in administration, prospect research and communication.
  • To help gather KPIs and information that communicates fundraising strategy, tactics, targets or outcomes for regular reporting.
  • Assist in the wider work of the capital team as directed by the CEO and Project Development Manager.

Expected performance indicator outputs for 2017/18 include but not limited to:

  • 6 new sign ups to Edinburgh Printmakers Circle for Patrons
  • 3 bespoke recognition events / VIP tours of the building development, Dinners/Breakfast presentations for Edinburgh Printmakers Circle for Patrons, and other key donors and stakeholders
  • 4 general solicitation and engagement events for prospects and key stakeholders, additional tailored events as needed with key prospects.
  • 1 capital campaign and mail out - £100,000 target
  • £200,000 income through Trust and Foundations / Major Gifts / Corporate Giving

Essential:

Experience

  • Experience of developing and supportingdiversefundraising activities.
  • Demonstrable proven experience in fundraising and/or capital appeals.
  • Able to demonstrate a track record of helping to secure five andsix figure gifts from trusts, foundations, individualsand corporates, whilst sustaining and nurturing a portfolio of prospects, which has led to further gifts.
  • Experience of helping to shape and plan cultivation events that lead to major gifts and successful recruitment of new donors.
  • Experience of database management in relation to fundraising activity.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to develop an effective income growth plans for patrons, corporate giving and Trust and Foundations.
  • Ability to communicate, network, influence and build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent written communication skills, negotiation and presentation skills, which exerts influence with diplomacy, whilst maintaining and developing good relationships.
  • Project Management and organisational skills.
  • The ability to multi task and manage your own workload with limited supervision
  • Ability to work well under pressure and work to a deadline.
  • IT literate, including the ability to use Microsoft office, or equivalent, and fundraising databases.

Knowledge and aptitudes

  • Knowledge of fundraising sector trends in relation to Major Giving.
  • Knowledge and understanding of best practice and legal requirements in relation to Data Protection, Taxation guidelines, Gift Aid, Institute of Fundraising guidelines and other relevant Charity Law.
