Work-Time Activities (40 min) / Whole group: Analyze the moth’s philosophy in order to understand “theme.”
Individually: Students will analyze “The Credo”in order to find the poem’s theme. / Compare and contrast key elements from each of the three poems: “Identity,”“The Lesson of the Moth,”and, “The Credo.” / Choose from one of three topics in order to compare and contrast “Identity,”“The Lesson of the Moth,”and, “The Credo.” Complete the body.
Closure Activity (10 min) / Discuss each group’s findings of theme. / Ticket out the Door: How are the poems similar? How are they different? / 3, 2, 1
