CLASS TITLE:INFORMATION SYSTEMS UTILITY CLIENT REPRESENTATIVE

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work as a consulting representative of the Information Systems Utility (ISU) providing data processing liaison for client agencies or potential clients of the Administrative Management Information Center (AMIC). This work includes consultation in all areas of data processing hardware and software, statewide and/or local area network configurations and communications and the marketing of all resources and associated services available from the ISU.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Responds to user requests or inquiries pertaining to specific agency data processing needs and/or services available.
  • Presents and/or demonstrates data processing hardware and software services available through the data center to state agencies.
  • Identifies data processing hardware and software problems, performs analysis, and provides recommendations and/or solutions to agencies with data processing needs.
  • Initiates and/or attends meetings with current or potential client agencies representing the ISU on issues relative to the data center resources and services.
  • Assists agency clients in initiating feasibility studies and offers recommendations based on the results.
  • Consults with agencies in preparing their data processing budget and coordinates the assistance of responsible data processing personnel to accomplish budgeting and/or funding requests.
  • Coordinates equipment and software acquisition and installation with AMIC, client agencies and vendor staff.
  • Consults with and advises data center management on matters involving the ISU and client agencies.
  • Stays abreast of new technology and resources, hardware and software being contemplated or actually available at the ISU.
  • Prepares periodic management reports on the status of any active consulting projects and pending issues relative to the ISU and clients.
  • Maintains a professional and responsible relationship with current and potential client agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming (excluding micro/personal computers); or
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and four years of experience as described above; or
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and three years of experience as described above: or
  • A doctorate from an accredited college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and two years of experience as described above; or
  • Six years of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.
  • Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required experience.
