CLASS TITLE:AUDIT DIRECTOR - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is administrative work planning and directing the internal audit program for a state agency. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates the work of a staff of internal auditors engaged in the systematic auditing of fiscal and financial transactions.
  • Conducts systematic reviews of departmental operating policies and procedures to determine their adequacy, effectiveness, and compliance with regulations and recommends needed improvements.
  • Reviews audit reports and special studies prepared by subordinates and prepares comprehensive final reports of audits and recommendations.
  • Provides counsel and advice to agency officials on matters related to audit reports, special studies, and other related recommendations.
  • Reviews audit reports of state auditors and assists state and federal auditors as required.
  • Participates in planning and directing a continuous program of records control designed to assure the reliability, accuracy, and proper retention of departmental records.
  • Performs related work as required.
