Class Rules and Policies:

Tardiness and absences are recorded daily. To simplify, my policy is that you get two freebies before I start recording your tardies formally in powerschool. The third time you are late I will enter it in Powerschool. Remember that you will be assigned a detention, from the office, for every three tardies that are recorded.

Attendance and Participation points are recorded weekly. (1 point a day.) If you are absent, tardy, uncooperative, disruptive, use class time inappropriately, or are irresponsible with tools, materials, and your workspace you will lose participation points. These add up, and remember attendance and participation composes about a third of your grade!

SOME THINGS TO REMEMBER:

  • NO food or drink in class. This includes candy, chips, soda, etc. You may bring a water bottle to class. Make sure it can be securely closed. This is for your own safety as some classes work with materials that are hazardous if ingested. It also serves to protect artwork and projects from accidental spills. (This has happened.)
  • You may listen to music (mp3 player, etc.) ONLY WHEN WE ARE WORKING INDEPENDENTLY ON UNIT PROJECTS. There will be times when you need to be actively engaged in what we are doing in class and I want you to be able to be able to interact with other students. If your music becomes a problem, I reserve the right to take it away until the end of class.
  • Cell phones should be turned off in class. Again, if it becomes a distraction I will take it away until the end of class.
  • Any textbooks distributed in class for student use MUST be covered.
  • NO backpacks in the classroom. Please keep them in your locker.
  • Plagarism and cheating will not be tolerated. “Sharing work”, or “sharing notes” will not be permitted unless discussed and agreed upon in class between teacher and students. (As is the case with group work.)
  • Respect is a must. Respect each other. Respect the art space. Respect your work and the work of others.
  • All other rules and guidelines in the agenda apply as well.
