Christmas Quiz

The Christmas Family Quiz organised by the Parents’ Association will take place on Friday, 27th November at 7.00pm. Doors open at 6.30pm. This is the night of the Late Late Toy Show. The quiz will be over in time for everyone to return home to see the Toy Show!

Christmas Fair

The annual Christmas Fair takes place on Sunday, 6th December from 9.30am to 2pm in the Balscadden Community Hall. Christmas raffle (1.30pm), Bottle Stall, Lucky Dip, Bake Stall (all donations gratefully received), gift tags created by school pupils, balloon modelling, craft stall and Rueben (as seen on RTE Jr).

Christmas Tree Lighting

The Balscadden village Christmas tree lighting will take place on Friday, 11th December at 6pm. Hot chocolate, mulled wine and minced pies will be served. Santa will be there with gifts for the children. The winner of the Golden Ticket competition will turn on the Christmas tree lights.

Christmas Choir Performances

The choir will perform in the school hall on Wednesday, 9th December and Thursday, 10th December at 8pm. The full choir need to attend both nights (homework passes will be available!). Parents are welcome to attend what is always a lovely occasion.

Under no circumstances should photographs or videos taken in the school be posted on social media websites.

Christmas Presents

Many parents like to show their appreciation to teachers and staff at Christmas time by buying gifts. Teachers and staff do not expect gifts of any kind. If parents would like to show their appreciation a simple homemade card is always well received.

Vincent de Paul Food Appeal 2015

The Annual Vincent de Paul Food appeal will take place in the school this December. If you would like to support this appeal, please send food donations to the school with your child. The food is collected from the classrooms every morning. Food should have an expiry date not earlier than Christmas Day. Examples of food donations are: Tea, coffee, tins of fruit, confectionery, pasta, rice, breakfast cereal, biscuits etc. This appeal helps local families who are in financial difficulties at this expensive time of year. The last day for sending in food is Friday, 18th December, 2015.

Santa Visit

Santa Claus will visit the school on Monday, 21st December during the school day before he heads back to the North Pole to get ready for Christmas Eve.

Christmas Holidays

The school closes for the Christmas holidays on Tuesday, 22nd December at 12.00pm. The school re-opens on Wednesday, 6th January, 2016.
