CHPSO Is Pleased to Announce a New Partnership with Nextplane Solutions, Improving Our

CHPSO is pleased to announce a new partnership with NextPlane Solutions, improving our database usability, significantly simplifying information transmission to CHPSO, and saving members the cost and effort of specialized solutions. This partnership will also free up CHPSO resources to directly serve our members’ needs.
With the previous system, reporting to CHPSO often required a specialized vendor module. Terminology mapping was used to put each event into a separate file in the proper taxonomy and format for submission.
With the new system, members no longer have to map and format specialized files. A plain text report generated by the member’s system and delimited by commas or other characters (e.g., tabs) will be used. In a one-time web-based drag-and-drop process, the member’s column names will be assigned to AHRQ fields and the row contents will be assigned to standardized answers. The mapping process takes one to two hours for the initial submission.
The transition to the new system will be complete by February 1, 2016. Members already reporting to the CHPSO database using ECRI’s portal can continue to use the same file format. However, we believe that most organizations will want to make the transition, considering the new system’s significant improvements and the simplicity of conversion.
CHPSO will have more information soon, including other exciting capabilities provided by this partnership. However, we wanted to alert you early so that those who are contemplating mapping and reporting can save unneeded time and effort.

FAQs

  1. Why the change?
  2. We recognized the current method for data mapping and reporting is challenging. The change to NextPlane Solutions will simplify reporting to CHPSO, saving members the technical resources, maintenance, and upgrade costs traditionally associated with reporting.
  3. What will it cost?
  4. There is no charge.
  5. I’m already reporting to CHPSO through the ECRI portal. Do I need to change my reports?
  6. No. We will accept the ECRI-format files. However, you may find the new format to be preferable for several reasons:
  7. you can place all the reports in a single file;
  8. you will not have to use a special module in your risk management information system;
  9. you can include multiple facilities in a single file;
  10. the entire AHRQ taxonomy is available for use; and
  11. any future data format changes due to modifications of your reporting system or AHRQ report taxonomy can be easily handled.
  12. What formats will the new program accept?
  13. In addition to the ECRI legacy format, we will accept your data in an ordinary text table format that uses delimiter-separated values, such as csv or tab-delimited files. The top row contains the column labelsand each subsequent row contains a report. Column names can be whatever is most useful for the organization. Similarly, row content is up to the organization. You will no longer have to maintainmapping between your data and the common formats, as NextPlane will maintain it.
  14. Will I need special software from our risk management information system vendor to map and report data?
  15. No. You will not need to purchase software from either NextPlane Solutions or your vendor. Mapping is done in a web browser, and is “drag and drop,” dragging your labels to the corresponding Common Formats fields. Mapping typically takes 1 to 2 hours for the first submission. During that mapping, experts from NextPlane will be on the telephone with you to facilitate the process. Subsequent submissions will not need mapping unless new fields or values are in your submissions, in which case several minutes will be required to identify the new fields or values.
  16. When will the changeover take effect?
  17. Certain facilities will start in August. We expect general availability will commence in September. Submissions to ECRI are available until January 31, 2016, by which time all facilities will be using the new system.
  18. What will happen to data I entered through the CHPSO/ECRI portal?
  19. Your data will be moved to the new database by February 1, 2016. There is no need for resubmission.
  20. Will I still have access to the CHPSO/ECRI portal?
  21. Access to the portal will be active through January 31, 2016. We found that ECRI resource utilization by members was insufficient to justify the investment. Instead, CHPSO will use the freed-up resources to better serve our members’ needs and requests.
  22. Who at CHPSO can answer my questions?
  23. Please contact Claire Manneh at , Rory Jaffe at , or call us at 916-552-2600.
