Introduction

Candidates submit a report covering their project(s), programme(s) or portfolio(s) based on the report proposal in the application phase (Stage 1). The report describes the application of their competence in the leadership of others using the competences fromthe APM Competence Framework 2nd editionfor the appropriate domain (project, programme or portfolio) and level (Level A or Level B) in the complex project(s), programme(s) or portfolio(s) outlined in the Stage 1 - Application.

The Report is completed using the APM Stage 2 – Report template structure below.

A maximum of 25 pages in A4 format are available for the report with an additional 15 pages (maximum) for the appendices.Two assessors assess the Stage 2 - Report.

A suitable electronic format should be chosen so that it can be e-mailed and read online (preferably as a PDF). The report and appendices should not exceed 5MB of data (when sent electronically), be printable (and legible) in black and white and in a font size of 11pt.

Report Structure

The report must relate to a recently completed project, programme or portfolio relevant to the Level applied for. The data may be anonymised. The following table lists the chapter structure, a description and the maximum length of each chapter. If exceeded, the Candidates Stage 2 – Reportwill be rejected.

Chapter 3:Management Challenges / Distinctive elements of the project, programme or portfoliomanagement and leadership challenges, how these were acted upon and the results achieved. These should relateto each of the relevant competence areas and cross-referenced against the APM Competence Framework 2nd edition.
Each competence has a series of indicators providing guiding statements. These define the knowledge, skills and abilities, tasks or outputs required for each competence area. Your evidence must demonstrate how at least 50% (rounded up) of the indicators for each competence have been met or satisfied. You must choose and provide suitable evidence against a minimum of 22 of the available 27 competences in the Stage 2 – Report for it to be deemed acceptable for Stage 3 - Interview.
Candidates may wish to use a STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) approach to help in structuring their evidence in the report. / 14 pages (max.)

Chapter 5: Competence Development Plan / An outline of the candidates personal, project/programme/portfolio, and organisational future development needs.The table provided can be used to create a competence development plan in relation to the APM Competence Framework 2nd edition. / 2 pages (max.)
Appendices / Additional supporting evidence in the appendices that is cross-referenced to the main report. Plans, relevant company or project/programme/portfolio documentation, minutes, reports, etc. / 15 pages (max.)
