A strong show on Galloways was presented to New Member Diane Whiteley, who carried out the pre-sale judging most admirably. Leading the female awards for the third year in succession were R & M Fergusson, Barlaes, Dalry Castle Douglas with a stylish heifer Barlaes Katie 36th, this March 2005 born New Era of Gall-way daughter sold to New Members, Forest Hall Farms, Selside, Kendal, Cumbria for 850gns. Reserve female Champion was from the father and son team J,M, & D Maxwell, Blairvockie Farm, Rowardennan, Drymen, Glasgow with their April 2005 born heifer Ben Lomond Matilda, another purchase for Forest Hall Farms for 500gns.
In the Male line up the championship was awarded to the junior bull champion exhibited by Kilnstown Farms Ltd, Bewcastle, Carlisle, Nugget of Kilnstown, an April 2006 born son of John Joe of Kilstown and out of a Canadian Bred mother was sold for 1000gns to M/s T Carrick & Son, High Crossgill, Alston. Lifting the reserve male championship and securing the top price of the day was another young bull shown by G & C Neve & Son, Haining House, Brampton. This 16month old Boris of Haining House, a son of Barlaes Bob sold for 1200gns to pedigree breeder Maggie Gordon, Barfil, Crocketford, Dumfries
The top price in the females classes was a bulling heifer from the same pen as the Champion female from Barlaes. A May 2005 born heifer, Barlaes Grace 60th, sired by Barlaes Challenger, she was knocked down at 900gns to Mr Keith Laurie, Snowdon Close, Gilsland.
