Kwando Lebala Camp2

Day 1:

Nxai 20Bedroom 20Facing 20OutOn arrival at MaunAirport, you will be met by our representative who will introduce you to your pilot and show you to your light aircraft for your first flight. Your first destination is the Nxai Pan, located on the western edge of the fossil pan from which the camp takes its name. The camp faces east over the open grasslands of the pans and accommodates a maximum of eighteen guests in thatched units specially designed to provide a constant and comfortable temperature throughout the year, when seasonal temperatures can fluctuate from below freezing to well over 45 degrees Celsius. Excellent game viewing is possible from the comfort of your rooms as the water hole in front of the camp draws a multitude of mammal species.

Overnight: Nxai Pan Lodge (or similar). (LD)

Day 2:

nxaipan 042The Nxai Pan is well known for its huge springbok population and once the rains have started, gemsbok, elephant and zebras migrate to the region. At this time, zebras come in their thousands to drop their young at the Nxai Pan. Extraordinarily large herds of giraffe’s can be seen with up to 30 in a group. These large herds of zebras, springbok, and wildebeest attract many predators – lion, cheetah, jackal and both spotted and the elusive brown hyena, as well as the endangered wild dog and the secretive leopard. Other activities you can do whilst here include a visit to Baines Baobab’s, game drives, nature walks and superb star gazing.

Day 3:

delta mokoro 2On your morning of departure after a game activity and late breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip to for a light aircraft transfer to a contrasting “wet” Camp located in the Kwando / Linyanti lagoon area. This is ‘big game’ country with consistent wild dog and large predator sightings.

Your camp is perched on the banks of the wild Kwando River, overlooking the Mudumu National Park in the Namibian Caprivi Strip. The camp is nestled beneath towering ebony and Marula trees and accommodates up to 16 guests in eight traditionally styled comfort 'tents.' The heavily forested site is home to a wide variety of birds and mammals, and also elephant and hippo are normally visible from the camp.

Overnight: Lagoon Safari Camp (or similar). (BLD)

Day 4:

Linyati has a well-earned reputation for big game and large herds of elephant and buffalo, especially in the winter months, when herds of up to a thousand are not uncommon. This vast concentration of game attracts the attention of large predators. Wild dog pack regularly den close to the camp and the excellent viewing opportunities have led to Linyati’s reputation as the place to see wild dog in Botswana. Seasonally large herds of elephant drink at the river bank near to the camp in full view of the main deck, while playful, spotted necked otters are commonly seen performing in the water. Another special feature of the camp is the afternoon river cruise. The unique double deck boat allows several guests the opportunity to drift along the river while enjoying spectacular views, mammal and bird life while sipping at your 'sundowner' of choice. For those guests who enjoy fishing, there is ample room to throw a line in the water while the boat meanders along.

Day 5:

After your morning activity and breakfast on your last day you will be transferred to the air strip for your onward flight to the Kwara region. Your camp here adjoins the Moremi Game Reserve, but as the Kwara concession is private, the animals move freely, but other tourists don’t – so you have an uncrowded Delta experience as good as it can get.

Overnight: Kwara Safari Camp (or similar).(BLD)

Day 6:

At leisure at Kwara Camp. The water experience, either fishing, on a mokoro or exploring the channels and rivers by boat, is spectacular. Kwara also offers game drives both off road and at night in their private traverse area. This offers the best all-year round Delta experience.

Day 7:

After a morning activity and a leisurely breakfast on your last day at Kwara, you board a light aircraft for your transfer back to Maun. (B)
