Duane Mickelson

Biography:

Born in Moorhead, MN, 1952, and grew up in Hawley, MN

B.A. in art education, Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, 1974

M.F.A. in sculpture from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND, 1982

Employed at Concordia since 1978, and is currently associate professor of art. In 2006, he received the Ole and Lucy Flaat Distinguished Teaching Award.

Sculptures are in the collections of Concordia College, Moorhead, MN; University of North Dakota, Grand Forks; Minnesota State Technical and Community College, Fergus Falls, MN; The Rourke Museum, Moorhead, MN; and the Plains Art Museum in Fargo, ND. Sculptures are also in private collections locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Sculptures have been shown in numerous local, regional, and national exhibitions, and

commissioned works include those for the college, area churches, businesses, and private individuals.

Recent shows of sculpture include Transformation to Tricksters at the Cyrus M. Running Gallery at Concordia College and The Rourke Museum, Moorhead; and a best of show award at The Arts Center in Jamestown, ND, and a second place award at the Society of Minnesota Sculptors Juried Exhibition, held at the Minnetonka Arts Center.

Currently he is a member of the Society of Minnesota Sculptors, and the International Sculpture Center.
