Blue Plus Government Programs Phone Translation Services

Items to Consider:

Agencies are encouraged to use over the phone interpretation as a first option when possible.Some visits will require face-to-face, you will need to use your professional judgement and make that determination. MARTIIor Via Language can be used as a backup in the event the face-to-face interpreter does not show for your visit.

In the event you require a rare or uncommon dialect, call MARTTI in advance and they will locate the language needed. Once they have identified an interpreter, they will call you back and schedule an appointment time. Allow yourself sufficient time for this (3 to 4 days in advance).

Over the Phone Interpretation (OPI)

  • Provide Blue Plus member ID number
  • Provide members full name (they should not be asking for too much HIPAA info)
  • State the language needed
  • Operator will connect you with the interpreter
  • Brief the Interpreter. Summarize what you wish to accomplish and give any special instructions.
  • Bring the Limited English speaker member onto the line.

Option two:

Via Language

When receiving a call:Use conference holdto place the Limited English speaker on hold.

2)The operator will ask:

• The language that is needed.

• Member name, ID number, cost center: 585

• Please let the operator know if you would like to connect to multiple parties (call a member at home for example).The operator will connect you to an interpreter.

3)Brief the Interpreter. Summarize what you wish to accomplish and give any special instructions.

4)Add the Limited English speaker to the line.
