Target Audience

This program has been designed for departmental/institutional faculty, fellows, residents, medical students, nurses, allied health professionals, community physicians, administrators for all medical specialties at HUP, PMC, and PAH.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

Increase awareness of government initiatives to combat fraud, waste, and abuse
Discuss the importance of an effective compliance plan
Describe how to recognize and produce properly documented medical records
Improve documentation and reporting of evaluation and management visits, procedures, diagnostic services or corresponding modifiers
Illustrate the need for clear documentation of medical necessity and reporting diagnosis codes

It is policy at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania for individuals who are in a position to control the content of an educational activity to disclose to the learners all relevant financial relationships that they have with any commercial interest that provides products or services that may be relevant to the content of this continuing medical education activity. In addition, all faculty were instructed to provide balanced, scientifically rigorous and evidence-based presentations.
