Bienvenue!Welcome and congratulations for choosing to continue your study of the French language!

Objectives:This class is the third using the book series Allez, viens! By now you have acquired some substantial foundations of the language and our objectives this year is to continue building onto these foundations to improve your oral, writing, reading and listening skills. You will also extend your understanding of cultural aspects from the French-speaking world throughout interactive and enrichment activities. Only French (however simple) will be used in class.

Procedures:

You are expected to:

1-put away and mute your phone when you get in.

2-be ready to work when the bell rings.

3-have your material with you (covered book, workbook, homework, pens, pencil…) at all times.

4-be polite and respectful!!

5-raise your hand for permission to talk or leave your seat. Ask in French if you need to leave.

6-seek extra help when needed (class, after school). Don’t wait too long!

7-wait for me (not the bell) to dismiss the class.

Materials:

Textbook: Allez, viens! Level 3, must be covered at all times. Take good care of it.

Workbook: Each student will be loaned a grammar workbook. You may not write in the loaned workbook. However you may wish to purchase it at a cost of $19.95 in which case you will be able to write in it. Only checks or money orders will be accepted, made out to CB South Student Activities Fund.

Homework:

Homework is assigned most nights to reinforce concepts studied in class. All daily assignments are worth 5 points and are not accepted late unless you are absent. They are checked for completion daily and are reviewed in class. No partial credit will be given if homework is incomplete. Homework is posted on the board and on my Schoolwires site each day. If you are absent it is your responsibility to present the made-up work to me.

Test and quizzes:

All test and quizzes will be announced several days in advance. However you should be expecting a chapter test after the completion of a chapter. There will be a final exam at the end of the semester. If you are absent you have the same number of days you were absent to make up the work. Not making-up a quiz or test within that time period will result in a zero for that assessment. It is your responsibility to come to me to make arrangements concerning the missed work.

Cheating:

Cheating will not be tolerated. Please reference the Central Bucks Academic Policy.

Grading policy:

Your grade will bebased on the following weighted categories: Participation (20%), Formative assessments (homework/class work)(20%),Summative assessments (Quizzes and tests/performance assessments) (60%).

Grading values:

A = 93-100B+ = 87-89C+ = 77-79D+ = 67-69F = 0-59

A- = 90-92B = 83-86C = 73-76D = 63-66

B- = 80-82C- = 70-72D- = 60-62

A language is made to be read, written and SPOKEN!! I want to hear you speak French!! There will be an assessment of your French oral skills most chapters based on pronunciation, grammar, comprehensibility and content.
