When is the Contest?

  • ENTRY PHASE: The Entry Phase begins on February 1, 2013 at 12:00:01 p.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on February 28, 2013 at 11:59:59 a.m. ET.
  • POTENTIAL SEMI-FINALIST NOTIFICATION & VERIFICATION: On or about April 1, 2013 the potential Semi-Finalists will be contacted to verify eligibility, confirm further participation, and obtain releases.
  • SEMI-FINALIST VIDEOS DUE: May 7, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. ET
  • FINALIST NOTIFICATION: On or about May 17, 2013 the Finalists will be notified.
  • PUBLIC VOTING PERIOD: The Public Voting Period takes place from May 20, 2013 at 12:00:01 p.m. ET and ends on June 10, 2013 at11:59 a.m. ET.
  • FINALIST TRIP: The Finalists will be invited to travel to Kissimmee, FL as Sponsor’s guests from June 8, 2013 through June 11, 2013 to participate in several activities selected by Sponsor showcasing what Kissimmee, FL has to offer.
  • WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT: On or about June 11, 2013 the Grand Prize winner will be announced.

Can anyone enter?

  • The contest is open to legal U.S. residents currently residing in the forty-eight contiguous Unites States or Washington, DC. Eligible entrants must be 21 years of age or older at the time of entry. There is a limit of one (1) entry per person/household.

How do I enter?

  • To enter the Contest, visit complete the entry form and submit your text submission answering the question, “What would you do with a decade of Kissimmee vacations? “ Your submission must be a minimum of 2500 characters and a maximum of 7500 (approximately 500 – 1500 words). We suggest that you write your story in Word and save it on your personal computer for future reference and then cut and paste the text into the submission section on the online entry form.

What are the prizes?

  • 1 Grand Prize will be awarded.
  • The Grand Prize consists of 10 trips for winner (and up to 5 guests per trip) over the next 10 years to Kissimmee, Florida.
  • Each 7 day/6 night trip includes
  • Roundtrip, economy class air transportation
  • Vacation accommodations provided by Westgate Resorts
  • Rental Car
  • Plus, the Grand Prize also includes $25,000 cash.
  • 1 Runner-Up Prize will be awarded.
  • Experience Kissimmee ™ themed gift basket
  • 5 Finalist Prizes will be awarded.
  • The Finalist Prize consists of one trip for Finalist and 1 guest to Kissimmee, FL on June 8 -11, 2013*. *Dates subject to change at sole discretion of Sponsor.
  • Each 4 day/3 night trip includes:
  • Roundtrip, economy class air transportation
  • Hotel accommodations
  • Several scheduled destinationexperiences selected by Sponsor
  • Ground Transportation/Shuttle Service
  • 25 Semi-Finalist Prizes will be awarded.

How will the Semi-finalist be selected?

  • A judging panel with evaluate the text submissions to select 25 Semi-finalists based on the following criteria:
  • Relevance to Kissimmee destination – 50%
  • Does the Initial Submission mention Kissimmee? Does it take into account the things to do and see in the Kissimmee area? Does the Initial Submission revolve around Kissimmee or use it as the focus of the story?
  • Creativity & Uniqueness – 40%
  • Does the Initial Submission contain original and/or imaginative ideas? Was the story relayed in a way that was original? Were there twists or other interesting techniques used in the telling of the story?
  • Quality of written submission – 10%
  • Does the Initial Submission contain fluent sentences and good grammar? Logical organization/structure? Interesting and important ideas?

What happens if I’m selected as a Semi-finalist?

  • Potential Semi-finalists will be notified on or about April 1, 2013 to verify eligibility, confirm further participation and obtain releases. The Semi-finalists will be provided an Experience Kissimmee ™ Memory Maker Starter Kit and hand held digital video camera to create a short video that brings their text submission to life. Video guidelines and instructions will be provided that time.

What criteria will the judging panels use in evaluating video submissions to determine the Finalists?

  • Submissions will be judged by representatives of Sponsor to determine 5 Finalists, based on the following criteria:
  • Relevance to Kissimmee destination – 50%
  • Does the Video Submission mention Kissimmee? Does it take into account the things to do and see in the Kissimmee area? Does the Video Submission revolve around Kissimmee or use it as the focus of the story?
  • Creativity & Uniqueness – 40%
  • Does the Video Submission contain original and/or imaginative ideas? Was the story relayed in a way that was original? Were there twists or other interesting techniques used in the depicting the story?
  • On-screen presence – 10%
  • How well does the presenter conduct themselves on-screen? Do they exude confidence? Do they have "presence"? Are they a good narrator?

What happens if I’m selected as a Finalist?

  • The top 5 video submissions as determined by the judging panel will be posted for public voting through a tab on the Experience Kissimmee Facebook Page. Once voting period opens, finalists will be allowed to self-promote to garner votes from their personal contacts. Self-promotion guidelines will be provided.

What if I don't have a Facebook account?

  • A Facebook account is required to participate in the voting phase of the Decade of Kissimmee Memories Contest. A free Facebook account may be created at

How will the Grand Prize winner be determined?

  • At the conclusion of the Public Voting Period, the Finalist Video that receives the most votes will be deemed the potential Grand Prize winner, subject to verification of eligibility.

When will the Grand Prize winner be announced?

  • The Grand Prize winner will be announced on or about June 11, 2013.
