Reports

Chairman

The AGM took place on the 23rd October the committee was re-elected en-block, the ex-officio members Richard the captain and Paddy president were duly elected. The only issue raised was by David reference the problem in getting his name on the availability list for league matches as he had not attended the club during the summer. The AGM was followed by the traditional buffet, thanks to all who helped especially Richard and Jenny for making the delicious apple pies served with custard.

I have since had a letter from Rob Harris saying he wishes to discontinue his post as the captain for friendlies matches.

I think we should continue friendly matches between league games when the programme permits, but I think the committee should lay down guidelines for the way its run for the next leader.

Christmas is approaching fast with the in house competition finals on Saturday the 14th December which we intend to make a festive occasion, more details later.

Secretary

Minutes of the A.G.M have been placed on the notice board.

Members took part in the Suffolk Triples, Hartest triples and Suffolk Pairs.

Ten members, five pairs, took part at the Potters event in Hopton on Sea. Richard and Jenny reached the quarter finals in the pairs and Nigel, Pat, Barbara and Rosemary reached the semi final in the fours. There were 137 pairs entered into the competition.

When members apply to take part in invitation events Nigel will ask them to notify him as in the past he has received enquiries from the organisers, this has made it difficult as he has not known who has entered the competition.

Treasurer

Captain.

The winter league is progressing well. The in house competition has reached the finals which will be played on 14th December.

Future in house competition games are to be played on the middle mat if more than 14 players attend a roll-up, other wise the mat to be used will be decided by the toss of a coin and played straight away, before any roll-ups.

Finals Day 14th December will commence at 2.00pm with a round robin to be followed with a tea break and then the finals of the pairs and singles. At approximately 5.00pm there will be a fish & chip supper. See notice board for details.

John B and Jenny agreed to run the friendlies. Shotley, Bucklesham, Witnesham and Nacton have been identified as possible matches, the home matches to be played on Fridays if possible.

The Somersham inter village competition will be run by Somersham next year and have suggested the 19th April. They will contact Nigel with the information.

Hall Representative

Nigel attended the hall committee meeting in September and there were no items of interest to the bowls club. The building of a cupboard in the foyer to house the floor polisher and brooms has been abandoned as the cleaners found maneuvering the polisher difficult and the only place it is used is in the hall.

A.O.B

It was suggested that we should resurrect the ladies against the men matches and the Tuesday against the Wednesday and vice-versa. these could be played in the summer.

Date of next meeting

The next committee meeting will be held on Wednesday,26thFebruary, 2014, commencing at 6.30.pm.
