Provide educational leadership and management for all the overall educational operations of the school district. Primary responsibilities include personnel management, planning, accountability, budgeting, program improvement and quality control of instruction.
- Master’s degree in educational administration from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas administrator certificate with Mid-management
- Certified Instructional appraiser in PDAS
- Thorough knowledge of organizational design, management and improvement of instructional programs
- Thorough knowledge of personnel management
- Thorough knowledge of design and delivery of curriculum and instructional programs which includes alignment and allocations of resources based upon program needs, goals, and priorities
- Exceptional communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to write in a variety of formats
- Ability to conduct program evaluations using statistical methods and tools for quality control checks
- Minimum of five years of leadership experience in school administration
- Minimum of three years as a principal preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Research and Development
- Provide leadership and coordinate, direct, supervise, and evaluate the work of personnel, including, but not limited to the following departments: Special Education; Special Programs; Curriculum; Instructional Technology; Staff Development; Health Services; Community and Volunteer Programs; Counseling; Alternative School; Testing and Assessment; Human Resources.
- Apply research and best instructional practices to achieve outcomes as determined by the district plan and board goals.
- Provide leadership and oversight to design and deliver all curriculum and instructional programs for the district.
- Supervise staff in development, implementation, and revision of curriculum documents based on current review and analysis of student performance.
- Provide leadership to the staff at the district and campus level to work for continuous improvement and to maintain focus on implementing the district’s strategic plan and mission.
- Prepare reports and assist the superintendent, board, and staff in evaluating the effectiveness of the district’s plans, programs and other indicators of productivity.
School or Organization Improvement
- Lead the implementation of PLC and RTI at the district level.
- Assist the superintendent in implementing the comprehensive planning process as required by law, pertaining to the use of district-level decision making process and site-based decision making.
- Conduct annual evaluations of all programs and operations to determine needed improvements and make recommendations based on data.
- Participate in the district-level decision making process to establish and review the district’s goals, objectives and key measures of performance.
- Lead the implementation of all training and programs designed for the improvement of student achievement.
- Demonstrate skills in anticipating, managing, and resolving conflict.
- Provide for open communication with all district personnel.
- Employ collaborative decision-making processes, foster and promote collegiality and team building.
- Assume leadership in developing policies and procedures for all areas of responsibility.
- Submit annual staffing proposals and include financial impact.
- Recommend to the superintendent the appointment and assignment of all personnel in consultation with principals and other administrators.
- Transfer, suspend, or recommend dismissal of district employees subject to the approval of the superintendent who shall make recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
- Promote a positive work environment and encourage positive staff morale within the district.
- Provide leadership and oversight in maintaining accurate personnel records and in preparing monthly personnel recommendations to the superintendent for the Board of Trustees.
- In cooperation with the superintendent and other staff, develop and recommend pay systems.
- Chair the district level appeals process for job classification.
Staff Development and Assessment
- Assume major responsibility for coordinating the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the district/campus staff development plan.
- Provide leadership and oversight in developing and implementing a state approved administrator and teacher assessment/appraisal process, which includes appropriate professional development for personal selected areas of growth.
Technology and Resource Management
- Provide leadership and direction to the faculty and staff in the effective use and integration of technology, including individual training and staff development activities.
- Provide leadership and assistance in developing and implementing policies and procedures for the use of technology in the district.
- Provide leadership in developing and implementing the district technology plan.
- Coordinate integration of technology and instruction/curriculum development.
Administration Fiscal/Facilities Management
- Oversee the budget for all educational operations, including Title I, State Compensatory, personnel, technology, and community outreach partnerships.
- Assist the business department in preparing and analyzing the budget to ensure departmental productivity and cost effectiveness.
Partnerships and Community Outreach
- Coordinate and direct the work of the Community Outreach and Volunteer Program.
- Be aware of district-community needs and provide leadership and assistance in addressing those needs through paternal/community and school developed initiatives.
- Represent the districtin activities involving the parents, business partners and community members and agencies.
- Keep the superintendent informed on issues, needs, and operations of the district.
- Articulate the district’s mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation strategies to the community and solicit their input and support in realizing those identified needs.
