NOTICE OF VACANCY

ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT- EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Assures the development and implementation of all new and existing Early Childhood Services, programs and initiatives of the CISD.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide leadership to the CISD service area regarding Early Childhood Services.
  • Provide leadership to the Calhoun ISD EC team, facilitating regular team meetings.
  • Provide leadership to the Battle Creek Community and Area Schools in the area of Early Childhood and the work of the Early Childhood grants.
  • Direct the work of the following grants related to Early Childhood Services. Develop, submit, provide oversight in the program implementation and reporting requirements for all grants, including, but not limited to:
  • Great Start Readiness Program
  • Early Childhood Connections
  • Raising a Reader
  • 32P Block Grant
  • 3 year old scholarships
  • Continuously evaluate and realign staffing assignments as necessary to meet grant work/requirements.
  • Mentor prospective Early Childhood Services leaders.
  • Supervise budget development, implementation and revisions for all Early Childhood related grants.
  • Work collaboratively with all funders to ensure fidelity to local grants.
  • Work collaboratively with community groups and bodies to coordinate services as appropriate.
  • Through the Great Start Collaborative, facilitate consultation and technical assistance to local school districts and community based organizations regarding early childhood programming, the Great Start Readiness Program, grant applications and events.
  • Maintain networks at the local, regional, state and national level.
  • Supervise and evaluate all Early Childhood Services staff.
  • Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintain a professional personal appearance.
  • Adhere to district health and safety procedures.
  • Adhere to Board Policies.
  • Maintain Confidentiality.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood, or a related field. Master’s degree in Education Administration or Curriculum and Instruction. School Administrator Certification (orcurrently enrolled with the ability to complete certification within 3 years) required. 5 years successful experience in directing/supporting ECS preferred. 5 years successful experience working in collaboration with community organizations that serve families with young children preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: School Administrator Certification as required by Section 380.1246 of the Michigan Revised School Code. Michigan Teacher Certification for Elementary or Early Childhood Education preferred.
