for GPST1 trainees (2016-17)

By 6 Month ES Review: / By 11 month ES Review/ARCP:
3 x Mini-CEX/COT / 3 further Mini-CEX/COT

1 x MSF – 5 replies (10 if primary care) / 1 further MSF – 5 replies (10 if primary care)

31st January2017 / 6 month ES Review due + assessments and the Clinical Supervisor Report for 1stfour-month rotation of the training year must be complete
16thJune 2017 / 11 month ES Review due + Assessments and the Clinical Supervisor Reports for 2nd & 3rd four-month rotations of the training year must be completed.
Learning log (at least two entries per week) and PDP needs to be up-to-date.
From 3rdJuly 2017 / HEE KSS will contact all trainees who need to attend an Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP) panel for feedback.
Week beginning
10thJuly 2017 / ARCP panels take place during this week. All trainees must keep this week free as trainees will be expected to attend the panel if any part of their e-portfolio is incomplete.

A GOOD PRACTICE ST1 TRAINING YEAR PLAN

ST1 Timelines – Full time trainees starting ST1 in August

3rdAugust4-month post / Register with RCGP for eportfolio;
Meet Programme Director (PD) and Clinical Supervisor (CS) for 1st post;
Contact Educational Supervisor (ES) and arrange meeting to look at eportfolio and plan for the year;
Find out about local ST1 / ST2 learning sets & associated activities;
Induction Day;
Book study leave for GP study days (every 4 months);
Start adding entries into your eportfolio;
Get a NHS.net email address / Learning log running total (minimum)
September / Start workplace based assessments (WPBA);
Add a Personal Development Plan (PDP) into your eportfolio
October / Start doing 1st MSF – 5 replies needed (or 10 if in GP/ITP post)
November / Clinical Supervisor Report before post finishes / 32
7thDecember4-month post / Meet CS;
PDP entry for this post;
Contact ES to arrange date for 6 month review – due end January;
Book study leave for ES review
January / Early Jan – Do self-assessment for ES Review in eportfolio;
By 31st Jan – Meet and complete ES Review;
Accept and sign off review
February / Carry on with log entries/ WPBAs

To have completed 6 CbD, 6 miniCEX, PSQ if GP post and the Clinical Supervisor Reports (CSR) from your first two posts;
Complete and submitonline Form R– needed before every ARCP for revalidation purposes;
By 16thJune – Do your own self-rating on the Educational Supervisor Review (ESR) then meet and complete the ESR;
Accept and sign off review / 80 for ARCP
July / Continue with log entries;
ARCP (week of 10th July 2017) – may need to attend panel if eportfolio unsatisfactory – keep dates free;
Get your third end of placement CSR completed;
Consider when you plan to do the AKT and when you will start your preparation / 96

ST1 – General Hints

  • Start looking at GP Consultation models- through reading, tutorials if in a GP placement, as well as with your ST1 / 2 learning set
  • Read the AiT journal
  • Start looking at the GP Curriculum – including the core statements and the specific learning outcomes for the post you are currently doing
  • If in a GP or ITP post –remember you MUST book your Out of Hours sessions. In a 4-month post you need to do 24hours
  • Find out about your Local Faculty Group from your GP Programme Directors. When is it held? Decide with their help who will be the Year 1 Representative; give feedback to the rep ahead of the LFG
  • Keep up to date with your e-portfolio
  • Child safeguarding modules to be completed every year and documented in your eportfolio (minimum level 2 in ST1)
  • Check on your eportfolio that your POSTS are correct – full details of their location and the correct dates – if not, notify your local GP administrator
