Ap World History Summer Assignments

AP WORLD HISTORY SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. Assignment One: WORLD MAP EXAM.

You will need to complete all 5 maps in order to prepare for the World Map

Exam:

YOU WILL FIND THE NECESSARY MAPS ON MR. KUZIAN’S

APWORLD HISTORY HOMEWORK WEBSITE.

You will be tested on Land Masses, Mountains, Land Features, Oceans, Seas, Miscellaneous Water Features, Man-Made Waterways, Ancient Civilizations and Classical Civilizations, Regions of the World, as well as specific countries of the world. Basically, research all of the information required for the maps and you will be tested on the material. There will not be a word bank for the country portion of the Summer Map Assignment.

You will have a WORLD MAP TEST. The test will be on Monday, September 8. If our class does not meet on September 8, then we will have a test on the next day. You must be able to identify all of the information that you have researched over the summer. You will have the whole summer to prepare for the map test, so there will be no extensions regarding the dates for the testing of the world map.

***To clarify, the maps you are creating are STUDY GUIDES. I am not grading your study guides. I am only grading the test you take on these materials. For example, on the last map of the assignment, you are asked to color code each region. This is for your own study guide. Pick any color you wish.It is designed to help you preparea study guide for the world map test. On the day of the test, for that section, you will need to know all the regions and the countries associated with each region. Of course, you need to know all the information on all of your maps for the test.

  1. Assignment Two: Below is the book that is assigned for AP World History:

Pomeranz, Kenneth, and Steven Topik. The World That Trade Created: Society, Culture, and the World Economy: 1400s to the Present. 2nd ed. Armonk, New York: M.E. Sharpe, 2006.

Read this book over the summer and you will have a TEST on this book during the second full week of school. If we have class on Monday, September 15, then we will have the test on this day. If we do not have class on this day,we will take the test on the following day. You will have the whole summer to read and review this book, so there will be no extensions regarding the dates for the testing of this book.
