Course Overview
Environmental science is a multi-disciplinary field that examines the connections between Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Social Science, and Humanities. During this class we will discuss scientific principles, concepts, and methods to better understand the relationships of the natural world. We will also identify and analyze human and man-made environmental problems and evaluate the risks associated with these problems while examining alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them from reoccurring.
Class Requirements
- Bring your textbook, 3-ring binder, and lab notebook to every class
- Bring any additional materials you may need (pens, pencils, calculators, etc…)
- Students are responsible for all information presented in class including but not limited to figures, tables, power point slides, and lab concepts.
- Do not show up late to class and avoid all unexcused absences.
- Turn all assignments in on time, if this will be a problem talk to Mr. Goble!
- Get ready for the AP Exam!
Make-up Work
In the event you do not turn your homework in on the assigned date, 10% will be assessed for each class period you are late. Late work needs to be handed directly to Mr. Goble (not left on the desk or in a mailbox with a note). Please note some assignments cannot be accepted late, I will make sure you tell you what these assignments are. In the event you missed a test or quiz, the make-up will be given during class if possible or you may be asked to schedule an additional make up time.
Grading Policy
Six weeks averages will be determined by dividing the total points earned by the total number of points possible. Final averages will be calculated by taking the average of the three six –week grading periods. This will be equal to 6/7 of the final grade. The final exam and midterm averages together will make up the other 1/7 of the semester grade.
Grading Scale:
A = 100 – 93
B = 92 – 87
C = 86 – 79
D = 78 – 70
F = 69 – 0
