The Assessment, Treatment & Management of Diastasis of Recti

This unique, 1-day course has been designed to give Physiotherapists the knowledge and understanding to confidently assess, treat and manage Diastasis of Recti.

The course will equip you with the current evidence based assessment and treatment techniques.

Covering:

  1. What is DRA and how does it occur?
  2. DRA and clinical relevance to LBP / PGP and urogynaecological conditions.
  3. Abdominal muscle attachments and their relevance to abdominal muscle programmes for DRA.
  4. Current research in the field of DRA.
  5. Assessment of DRA with and without Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging.
  6. Exercise protocols for DRA within research.
  7. To splint or not to splint the abdomin during rehab of a DRA.
  8. Is surgery an option - when to refer?

The course also looks at the management of DRA following abdominal surgery.

The course will be delivered by Samantha Gillard who is a leading Clinical Specialist in Women's Health Physiotherapy with over 20 years of experience. Her career has taken her around the UK gaining valuable experience in the NHS. Her current post is as Lead Physiotherapist in Women's and Men's Health at Harrogate District Hospital, North Yorkshire. She has completed her Masters degree in Healthcare Practice with distinction and is a full member of the ACPWH. She is currently studying for a PhD in DRA.

Samantha has been responsible for developing and writing The FitBack & Bumps unique ante and post natal educational exercise programmes which is delivered by Chartered Physiotherapists in the UK - she is the lead tutor for this programme. She offers support and advice to the entire network of FitBack & Bumps Physiotherapists in the UK –
