1)Facilitate one or more of the following activities: What do You See, Connect the Dots, or Count the F’s. Process the activity and relate the purpose of the activity to the ways in which a counselor can assist students.
2)Transition: “Now that you have some understanding of the ways in which we can help students, let’s create a more detailed list.
Assured Learning Experiences[List the activities that the students will participate in to facilitate their learning.]
1)As a whole class, or through the use of a chalk talk, students will create a list of the ways in which a counselor can assist students. Review and discuss student responses or group lists.
Transition: “In order for us to assist you, it will help if you know where we are located and how you can go about seeing us.”
2)Discuss ways in which students can appropriately access their school counselor and emphasize two important points: confidentiality and self-advocacy. Explain the concept of confidentiality and reinforce the importance of advocating for self and others.
Transition: “You can demonstrate your ability to self-advocate by completing the following survey.”
3)Students will complete a Needs Assessment linked to Naviance.

1)Students will complete the brief Exit Surveyon Naviance and counselors will review responses.
