GMYN Treasurer Trustee Recruitment

We’re in an exciting period of growth at Greater Manchester Youth Network as we embark on the delivery of a number of new projects and services to support young people across Greater Manchester. We would like to expand our board in this time of development and are seeking to recruit a Treasurer.

You would work closely with our Finance Officer and Chief Exec to overseethe financial running of the charity in line with good practice and in accordance with thegoverning document and legal requirements and report to the Board of Trustees atregular intervals about the financial health of the organisation. You will ensure thateffective financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place, and areappropriate for the charity. As a trustee, you will play a full strategic role in the runningof our organisation.

We want board members who believe in GMYN's cause and are able to give enough time to the role. No previous experience of board membership is needed but for the role of Treasurer we are looking for someone with extensive finance experience, ideally on a strategic level.

As a board member you would have the opportunity to get involved with a number of different activities, including staff recruitment, strategic away days, campaigning, team building, quality standards, fundraising events and supporting the growth and development of this innovative organisation.

We expect the time commitment needed for this role to be around 1 day per month and the duties would include

  • Work with the Finance Officer on the preparation ofBudgets and Accounts.
  • Attendance at our six weekly board meetings with time in between to read papers and carry out small actions.
  • Attendance at Finance sub groups.

Board meetings usually take place early evening and are held at GMYN's office in Ardwick, Manchester, which is around one mile south of the city centre and easy to reach by public transport.
This is an unpaid voluntary role but a great opportunity for personal and career development.

If you would like to find out more about the organisation, please contact GMYN’s Chief Executive, Alex Fairweather on 0161 274 3377, or email . You can also contact me for an informal chat about the current board and its role on .

If you are interested in this role please complete and return GMYN’s Volunteer Application Form by Friday 31st March. This form and further information can be found on GMYN’s website.

Many thanks and we look forward to hearing from you.
