Admin Task Force Conference Call

Tuesday, December 30th, 2014

1:30 – 3:00 PM

  • Meeting Notes from Admin TF meeting on November 25, 2014 – Allison

A MOTION (Gerst/Peabody) to accept the meeting notes was APPROVED.

  • Existing Business
  1. “Ahead of the Curve” and FHWA Research 101Updates – Cynthia

FHWA Research 101 – has gone very well; went through a beta test; will be delivered through the NHI. The content is engaging and thorough; contains a lot of detail and resources. The first classes will be offered in February via webinar.

Ahead of the Curve – a consultant has been selected to develop the course outlines. Contract negotiations are in progress, and they should begin work in January. Volunteers will be recruited to develop the full courses based on the outlines developed by the contractor. It is hoped that the pilot introductory course will be offered at the 2015 summer meeting in Portland, OR. A workshop will be included at the 2015 TRB annual meeting, Thursday morning from 8:00 am to noon.

  1. DOT Fact Sheets –Allison

Nevada’s fact sheet was received earlier today.

  1. Website Subcommittee – Cynthia

During the last call reviewed the Contracts and Programs sections; no major changes are recommended – distinguishing between projects and programs is an issue to be resolved.

  1. Task Force Membership Definitions (i.e. members, associate members, friends, etc.)

  1. RAC Winter Meeting – Allison

The participants in the first session are being finalized. Kevin Womack is confirmed; AASHTO will send either Bud Wright or King Gee. Bob Skinner will attend briefly and provide remarks on the occasion of his retirement, then invite Jeff Paniati and Bud Wright to present certificates of appreciation to Neil Hawks, Ann Brach, and the four SHRP 2 division heads on behalf of AASHTO and FHWA. Neil Pedersen will follow and outline his vision for TRB. After Neil speaks, there will be a question and answer session. Allison needs to follow up with Cameron Kergaye to see if he is willing to speak about the Utah STIC. All other speakers are confirmed.

  1. Region 1 Dinner on Tuesday

  1. Task Force Membership Spreadsheet Update –Allison

The update should be ready by the TRB meeting as planned.

There are two documents that the task force may update next year: meeting planning guidelines and summary of meetings 2004 to 2010.
