You will have tremendous flexibility in making career choices. The ability to impact people’s lives on a daily basis is waiting for you. Our culinary session will include a live-lobster breakdown and an exploration of basic pastry technique with our culinary students and instructors.

Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene

Do you see yourself in a set of scrubs in the future? Have you thought that your future career will be one in health care but you’re not sure exactly what’s out there?

This session will explore the field of dentistry and nursing.

If you are always aware of peoples teeth when you talk to them, and you actually look forward to your semi-annual trip to the dentist, you are probably perfect for a career in the dental profession. The program directors of both Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene will be on hand to describe what it’s like to work in dentistry and how this field is one of the fastest growing professions for young people. They’ll answer your questions and provide information on the programs available at Indian Hills.

Electronic Engineering Technology: The Field of Electronics

Ever wonder how a cell phone actual connects to make phone calls or allow you surf the web. Ever wonder what is engineering? This session will provide you an insight into field of electronics and how engineers and technicians work together to achieve a goal, like a cell phone. This session provides you a hands on creative time while learning about your career options.

Lasers: Shed Light on Your Future

If you are looking for a session that will shed light on your future, look no further! The Laser and Optics Technology program will introduce you to the common applications lasers and optics are used for in the industry. From missile defense systems to astronomy to material manufacturing, the Laser and Optics Technology program at Indian Hills will demonstrate the key concepts into making all of these applications possible.

Nursing

Modern nursing is about more than “taking care of people.” By understanding the human body and how diseases affect the body’s functioning, nurses apply knowledge and technology to make decisions about how to improve the health of individuals, families, and communities. In this session, you will learn about nursing courses and programs offered at IHCC, as well as exciting and diverse career opportunities available to nurses.

Robotics/Automation: The Future is Today!

In the Robotics/Automation program we place nearly 100% of our graduating students. These students mostly go to work in Iowa or the surrounding states but have many opportunities all around the USA. To start a career in this field our students first learn about basic electronics. We offer a hands on experience with simple programming of the Basic Stamp board where students will build simple circuits with electronic components and control them with the Basic Stamp programming. If this interests you, you may take our electronic core classes in your Junior and Senior year in High School earning up to 40 college credit hours.

Pre-Health Sciences: Your Simulated Clinical Experience

Are you interested in a career in healthcare? During this session, we will demonstrate one of our SimMan 3 G Human Patient Simulators (robots) and discuss how the sim lab can educate students by bringing nursing and allied health training together in a practical simulated clinical experience.

Welding: Test Your Skills!

If you like working in a hands-on environment and would like to be a part of one of the most important inventions in the world, than consider a career in Welding. Welding is the principle means of fabricating and repairing all metal products. Welding offers a wide variety of job opportunities around the world, ranging from: agricultural, construction, industry, architectural, sculpting and more. The Welding Technology session will introduce you to the structure of the welding career academy, as well as, the diploma and AAS programs at Indian Hills and the current job market. Students will also have the opportunity to test their welding skills on our Lincoln Virtual Welder.
