Students on Disqualification Status

FCC requires that student petition for reinstatement.
RC only requires a petition if a student is asking for a waiver of the dismissal. If student is dismissed and sits out their period of dismissal, they may return without a petition and without qualification. Petitions to Repeat a Class

“W” is an administrative action, not a letter grade and, therefore, should not be counted as an attempt. Title 5 only dictates two substandard grades. Academic symbols do not equal a grade.

Reedley Academic Standards Committee is not recommending any change from the current policy—a W does count.
FCC Academic Standards Committee recommendation is for one substandard grade and two W’s. Two substandard grades should automatically direct student to a counselor.
Recommendation made that a policy be developed on how to evaluate academic symbols. Academic Senates need to make a determination.
