EXECUTIVE

  • Corporate Relations Director (3)
  • Develop and maintain active relationships with current sponsors by email and phone
  • Spearhead communication with corporate professionals regarding Executive Branch events
  • Design and send bi-monthly corporate sponsor newsletter
  • Maintain corporate sponsorship database by reviewing current contacts and updating information
  • Attend 1 company-sponsored information session or meeting every other week
  • Plan and execute ABSA’s first-ever Startup Simulation
  • Contact companies for sponsorship and cater to their needs/preferences
  • Contact and collaborate with diverse student organizations
  • Organize event logistics while working under a secured budget
  • Handle the logistics and execution of ABSA’s Case Competition
  • Contact companies for sponsorship
  • Secure a budget
  • Schedule and plan events with both students and sponsors
  • Collaborate with the Consulting Team for upcoming projects
  • Acquire clients for Consulting Team
  • Assist in hosting 1 mock case competition
  • Coordinate the logistics and execution of ABSA’s Spring Networking Reception
  • Contact local Austin startups
  • Begin developing the 2014-2015 sponsorship package
  • Brainstorm and execute innovative and creative methods of how to get sponsors involved with ABSA
  • Consulting Team – Junior Associate (No limit)
  • New members enter with the title of Associate.
  • Develop skills in corporate strategy, industry and competitive analysis, marketing strategy and research, and financial advisory.
  • Garner real world experience through our hands-on approach to issue-based problem solving, engaging in semester-long consulting projects with Austin’s most prominent businesses. Past cases include:
  • Product development and strategy in retail with RetailMeNot.com
  • Product development and market research in high-tech with IBM Watson
  • Financial planning and advisory in apparel with Raven + Lily
  • Learn how to network effectively and gain access to our network, including Consulting Team alumni who have worked at the top industry positions, consulting firms, and investment banks.

PROFESSIONAL

  • Professional Director (2)
  • Assist Professional Vice President in logistical preparations of General Meetings by:
  • Corresponding with scheduled company recruiters
  • Contracting catering services for efficient delivery and setup of food
  • Facilitating meetings with PowerPoint announcements and company handouts
  • Schedule prospective speakers for informational panels—Internship, Study Abroad, etc.
  • Schedule and implement professional development workshops—company chat sessions, resume, etc.
  • Implement all logistics of Mock-Interview Marathon—Contacting interviewers, reserving rooms, setting up, scheduling
  • Co-lead/plan a major Fall or Spring CFT and/or volunteer in Scoring Careers
  • Advertise professional events through Facebook and General Meeting announcements
  • Careers Director (3)
  • Plan and coordinate special networking projects and non-general meeting events such as Scoring Careers career fair
  • Arrange one out-of-city company field trip per semester by contacting prospective companies, preparing itineraries, and overseeing hotel and travel accommodations
  • Coordinate with corporate contacts to plan and arrange local and out-of-town company visits
  • Advertise Professional events through Facebook and General Meeting announcements

INTERNAL MEMBERSHIP

  • Social Director (2)
  • Plan and execute ABSA social events, keeping in mind the budget
  • Brainstorm and coordinate new social events for ABSA members throughout the year
  • Arrive early to meetings and greet members, staying after to recruit members to events
  • Constantly promote social events through word-of-mouth, emails, Facebook, and phone
  • Be responsible for signing members up and publicizing each event to members at every meeting
  • Be proactive in connecting new members to old members
  • Taking the initiative to meet new members and old members
  • Coordinate rides to events
  • Negotiate with outside representatives for group rates, discounts, and comparing prices
  • Assist every aspect of internal branch – special events, family, and athletic
  • Athletics Director (2)
  • Register for intramural sports and schedule regular practices and games
  • Be responsible for sending out weekly e-mails and practice location updates to members
  • Supervise team play and provide coaching support during all practices and matches
  • Be authoritative but also a team-player
  • Must preserve the primary goals of member participation and retention while promoting a winning spirit
  • Expected to attend practices and games for IM football, volleyball, basketball, etc.
  • Assist every aspect of internal branch – social, family, and special events
  • Family Director (2)
  • Continue to develop ABSA’s Family Program
  • Maintain frequent contact with Big Sibs in order to ensure quality and fulfillment of necessary requirements
  • Encourage families to coordinate family mixers and new socials
  • Responsible for e-mailing and receiving feedback of Big Sibs at least once a month
  • Responsible for keeping track of family points earned by families throughout the year
  • Responsible for leading Family GMs
  • Plan and execute traditional ABSA family competitions and socials (Including but not limited to Thanksgiving Potluck, ABSA Iron Chef, Family Olympics, etc.)
  • Responsible for mid-semester evaluations with all big sibs (Big Sib Briefings)
  • Responsible for turning reimbursement forms to financial directors
  • Maintain good relations with old members
  • Assist every aspect of internal branch – social, special events, and athletic
  • Special Events Director (2)
  • Promote goodwill, member recognition, and appreciation
  • Organize awards, certificates, and EOS gifts
  • Assist every aspect of internal branch – social, family, and athletic
  • Arrive early to greet members and hand out name tags
  • Plan and execute a fundraising event
  • Collaborate with all internal directors in logistics and designs of ABSA End-of-Semester banquet
  • Negotiate with outside representatives for group rates, discounts, and comparing prices
  • Assist every aspect of internal branch – social, family, and athletic

EXTERNAL

  • External Director (2)
  • Coordinate large-scale community service and philanthropic events including, but not limited to, Dodge for a Cause: Charity Dodge Ball Tournament, Thrift Shop: Charity Garage Sale, and Pie-an-Officer
  • Develop themes and activities for organization fair booths
  • Attend and assist in all of external branch’s activities, including volunteering events
  • Attend at least one Undergraduate Business Council (UBC) meeting with External VP
  • Public Relations Director (2)
  • Establish and develop relationships with peer organizations on campus by coordinating joint mixers and cooperative initiatives
  • Attend meetings for at least one other organization of choice to encourage stronger relations with ABSA
  • Assist directly in planning one large-scale philanthropic event with the External Directors
  • Attend and assist in all of external branch’s activities, including volunteering events
  • Attend at least one Undergraduate Business Council (UBC) meeting with External VP
  • Volunteering Director (2)
  • Research and procure 4-5 different volunteering events each semester to service both the University and the Austin community
  • Contact company representatives and organize volunteering events with our sponsors
  • Maintain a spreadsheet detailing past, present, and future volunteering activities and participation hours
  • Assist directly in planning one large-scale philanthropic event with the External Directors
  • Attend all volunteering events and assist in all external branch activities
  • Attend at least one Undergraduate Business Council (UBC) meeting with External VP

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • All Administrative Branch Positions (excluding Marketing Team)
  • Coordinate and organize ABSA's Birthday Party in March
  • Maintain the Merit Point System
  • Rotate to sign members in at every General Meeting
  • Rotate to curate weekly ABSA email updates to general membership

  • Organize Members of the Week (MOTW) awards, Directors of the Month (DOTM) awards, and Merit Point winners’ awards
  • Place weekly posters around McCombs advertising ABSA events
  • Act as branch liaison by communicating with and assisting the rest of the Administrative branch
  • Sign members in at every General Meeting
  • Take minutes during director GAM sessions
  • Manage and organize the ABSA membership database
  • Organize a system for ABSA branch event forms
  • Coordinate and organize ABSA's Birthday Party in March
  • Attend all Administrative Branch events and assist, as necessary
  • Alumni Director (2)
  • Maintain alumni communication between alumni and new/old members
  • Plan and execute Alumni Weekend for both Fall and Spring
  • Oversee ABSA’s Mentorship Program (Local and Virtual) and plan workshops for interaction between ABSA alumni and members
  • Note: Preference for this position will be given to returning ABSA members
  • Assist in all Administrative Branch activities, as necessary
  • Media Director (3)
  • Document organizational events and activities with photographs and videos
  • Produce a scrapbookand a video montage to be presented at the End of Semester banquets (December and May)
  • Produce a senior recognition video to be presented at the End of the Semester banquets
  • Produce senior DVD gifts to graduating seniors to be given at the End of the Semester banquets
  • At least one Media Director or Informer Editor is expected at every event unless otherwise indicated
  • Assist in all Administrative Branch activities, as necessary
  • Informer Editor (2)
  • Manage the production and publications of 2 editions of the Informer (ABSA’s official newsletter) per semester
  • Collaborate with Media Directors to ensure adequate visual representation of events in every issue
  • Collaborate with Alumni Directors to produce a newsletter to be sent to ABSA alumni each semester
  • At least one Media Director or Informer Editor is expected at every event unless otherwise indicated
  • Assist in all Administrative Branch activities, as necessary
  • Webmaster (1)
  • Update content on three ABSA-owned websites on a regular basis
  • Review and resolve issues with inefficient code or bugs on all three ABSA domains
  • Facilitate and manage creation of new content or widgets on the websites
  • Assist in all Administrative Branch activities, as necessary
  • Marketing Team (No limit)
  • Detail marketing plans for businesses and organizations that convey professionalism, trust, confidence and quality of service/product
  • Leverage today’s form of marketing in order to provide businesses with maximum outreach to target audience in order to increase business efficiency
  • Assist in providing marketing assistance for all major ABSA events (Feed Your Mind, Scoring Careers, Launch Conference, etc.)
  • Requirements: past leadership experience, strong communication skills, ability to dedicate 5-10 hours/week

ACADEMIC

  • Academic Director (2)
  • Organize workshops and events over a wide range of academic and personal development topics
  • Contact faculty members and external persons to serve as guest speakers
  • Ensure opportunities meet the academic needs of members by
  • Surveying and communicating with member demographic
  • Personalizing opportunities for members by year and major
  • Coordinate logistics and execution of Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week
  • Project Manager (4)
  • Oversee special events, including:
  • Feed Your Mind (a philanthropic food giveaway event at the end of each semester) – 2 directors
  • LAUNCH Leadership Conference – 2 directors
  • Perform various tasks:
  • Handle relationships with sponsors
  • Maintain large budgets
  • Coordinate logistics and guest speakers
  • Lead committee meetings
  • Keep detailed documentation

FINANCIAL

  • Financial Director (2)
  • Assist Financial VP in ensuring the budget is financially sound
  • Act as oversight on other branches to ensure budgets are followed sensibly
  • Work with other branches to help facilitate their events economically
  • Establish various fundraising opportunities
  • Serve as a liaison to appropriation committees such as UPO, Co-Op, Senate, Student Government, etc.
  • Help manage and record the ABSA accounts
  • Finance Team (No limit)
  • New members enter with the title of Analyst
  • Train and hone skills in investment research, financial modeling, macroeconomic analysis, corporate accounting, portfolio allocation, financial instruments, developing investment theses, and various investing philosophies/methodologies
  • Apply learned concepts by participating in market update discussions, receiving lectures, and helping run the fund by joining sub-teams to pitch stocks to the whole group
  • Receive career advice to prepare for jobs in financial services or other industries
  • past members have gone on to join prestigious firms in investment banking, asset management, accounting, and private equity
  • others have worked in consulting or gone corporate
  • Give back to the ABSA community through workshops

DIRECTOR EXPECTATIONS

All directors are expected to:

  • Attend the MANDATORY Director Retreat on Sept. 29, 2013
  • Attend all bi-weekly General Assembly Meetings on Sunday nights (1 excused absence allowed per semester)
  • Attend every GM (3 excused absences allowed per semester)
  • Sign up for at least 1 slot for ushering
  • Sign up for at least 2 slots to flyer/table for major ABSA events (interest meeting, Scoring Careers, Launch, etc.) or fundraising events.
  • Represent ABSA in a professional manner at all times
