STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT
Jesus Is the Son of God
Which of Jesus’ words from the cross are your favorite? Perhaps these: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). For whom was He making this request? For the Jewish hierarchy who brought the Crucifixion about; for the Romans who used this method of execution; for the centurion who “saw how He died [and] said, ‘Surely this man was the Son of God!’ ” (Mark 15:39). And for us, for it is our sin that put Jesus on the cross. And it is Jesus Whom we praise and tell the world, “Surely this man is the Son of God!”
Prayer: Dear Father thank You for the gift of Your Son Who has removed the sin that barred me from You. Thank You for encouraging me through Word and Sacrament to be Your witness. Help me to follow Your will and be obedient to Your Word. Through Christ I pray. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
CO God of mercy and might, in the mystery of the passion of your Son you offer your infinite life to the world. Gather us around the cross of Christ, and preserve us until the resurrection, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

INTRODUCTION
Today's liturgy begins with a palm procession, commemorating Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Quickly the tone of the service changes as we meditate upon Jesus' passion and death. Because this story is so central to our faith, we hear Matthew's account of the passion today and John's version on Good Friday. Though Jesus is obedient even unto death on the cross, he is exalted by God. We gather to remember his offering for the life of the world, and to be fed by his life-giving mercy. This holy week will culminate in the celebration of the Three Days of Jesus' suffering, death, and resurrection.

APOSTLES’ CREED
CI believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
