990 FORM INSTRUCTIONS

BEGINNING BALANCE - Should match the ending balance of your previous years 990 form.

INCOME

1.Total money paid to chapter for memberships, plus credit slips from A.B.A.T.E. OF IL.

2.Donations, contributions or gifts made to the chapter. (LIST SEPERATELY)

3.All or any interest paid to the chapter on bank accounts.

4a.Total amount of money taken in (events, drawings, door Prizes, raffles fundraisers.)

4b.Any expense the chapter has to payout of an (event, drawing, door prizes, raffles, fundraisers.)

4c.The amount of 4a minus the amount of 4b.

5a.Any item the chapter sells

5b.Any cost the chapter pays for items-including shipping & handling

5c.The amount of 5a minus the amount of 5b

6.Any income that the chapter received and doesn't already have listed in any above category (list separately & total)

TOTAL INCOME - Add the following lines together to find total income: 1, 2, 3, 4c, 5c, 6.

EXPENSES

1.Money paid to A.B.A. T .E. OF ILLINOIS from the chapter for membership dues.

2 All postage including PO box rent.

3.Items not covered separately under expense-items needed to operate.

4.Any bank charges, checks, fees from bank charges to your chapter.

5.Rental fees or repairs chapter pays.

6.Gas & travel reimbursements to officers, cost of sending members to seminars

7.Cost of entertainment-not including events.

8.Printing done by chapter-not including events.

9.Insurance paid by the chapter-not including events (D&O insurance, bonding of officers)

10.Any money given back to officers of chapter for phone expense.

11.Any expense for renting-storage, etc.

12.Any expense for renting meeting rooms.

13.Expenses for newsletter, fees for web site and their upkeep.

14.Expenses the chapter paid for educational reasons (Travel for instructors, materials, safety and education expenses.)

15.Expenses the chapter paid for legislation reasons (travel for legislative coordinator, materials.)

16.Money donated by the chapter - (list names and amounts separately)

17a.Expenses chapter paid out not listed in categories above.

17 b.Total lines from 17a.

TOTAL EXPENSES – Add together lines 1-16 and line 17b.

ENDING BALANCE – Add the total income minus total expenses.

Beginning balance + total income – total expenses = ending cash balance.

This amount will be your beginning balance for the next year!

Your main objective is to make sure all of your income and your expenses from your chapter’s records are added in or subtracted out in the proper place on your chapters 990 form,
