Band: Please mark your calendars for our spring concert which will take place on Tuesday, May 9th at 7:00 PM in the East Gym. Students will need to wear nice black shoes, black dress pants or a black skirt, and their long sleeved blue music t-shirt. If you need help obtaining any of these items, please contact Mrs.

Artists will wrap up their Printmaking Narratives and Portraits. We will begin one more project if time allows before the end of the school year.

8THGrade Math: We will complete the unit on functions next week. Students will be able to find the correlation of a scatter plot and find the nth term of an arithmetic sequence. There will be a quiz on Thursday (G1 and G2) over scatter plots and sequences. Please check out our class website at

8th Grade Science: (4/10-4/13)

We are continuing our MAP review and preparation. We will be working on practice tests and also covering topics such as cells, organisms, body systems and ecosystems. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

8th Communication Arts – Mrs. Figg

This week students will continue writing poetry for their poetry books. Blue block classes will work on Spelling 14 packet which will be due on April 18. Each student should continue to read and word towards their AR goal for this quarter. If you have any questions, please email me at . My conference times are: Gold days 8:00-9:24 and Blue Days 9:28–10:52.

The Spring Middle School Choir Concert will be held on Monday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Gym. Students should arrive by 6:45. All students should wear their blue music shirts, black pants, black socks, and black shoes. No jeans, flip flops, or tennis shoes, please. If your child does not have these items, please have them see me as soon as possible. This is going to be an exciting concert, you will not want to miss it!!!

8th FACS:

These students have begun planning their group meal. They have to come up with a recipe, make a shopping list and then prepare their meal. This is their last activity in the kitchen.

Food Science:

The students will research a career in food science and write a one page paper over that career. They will then do a smash my food activity at the end of the week on computers.

6,7,8th Health/ Physical Education- Next week Mrs. Briney's classes & Mr. Hawthorne's classes will be starting their 4 way volleyball unit. Students will begin discussing Nutrition for their Health unit. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Mr. Hawthorne or Mrs. Briney.
