Sermon Notes 9.24.17

Psalm 130:5-6

5I wait for theLord,my whole being waits,
and in his wordI put my hope.
6I wait for the Lord
more than watchmenwait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Isaiah 62:6-7

6I have posted watchmenon your walls, Jerusalem;
they will never be silent day or night.
You who call on theLord,
give yourselves no rest,
7and give him no resttill he establishes Jerusalem
and makes her the praiseof the earth.

Matthew 24:36-44

36“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,but only the Father.37As it was in the days of Noah,so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.38For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage,up to the day Noah entered the ark;39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.41Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

42“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming,he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.44So you also must be ready,because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Luke 12:35-40

35“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning,36like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.37It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes.Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them.38It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak.39But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thiefwas coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.40You also must be ready,because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

Psalm 27:13-14

13I remain confident of this:
I will see the goodness of theLord
in the land of the living.
14Waitfor theLord;
be strongand take heart
and wait for theLord.

Isaiah 40:31King James Version (KJV)

31But they that wait upon theLordshall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
