General Objective

“Determine what needs to be developed so that a standardized electronicphytosanitary certificationsystem is defined for implementation between National Plant Protection Organizations”.

Specific objectives and approach

  1. Provide general background on electronic certification, phytosanitaryelectronic certification developments around the world and advances from countries working on electronic certification;
  2. Work towards:
  3. Determining the standardized contents of the electronic phytosanitary certificate;
  4. Determining the standardized way of secure and authentic transmission of the electronic phytosanitary certificate;
  5. Determining how to get the standardized elements of electronic phytosanitary certification accepted and widely used;
  6. Determining how to make the standardized elements of electronic phytosanitary certification available to all NPPOs;
  7. Determining the elements needed to have a smooth transition from paper certificates to electronic certificates.
  8. Establish a working program and an international forum for 2011-12 to further resolve the challenges identified during the meeting and formulate a draft appendix for ISPM 12 resulting in a report to CPM 7.
